ParticipantDemocrats move to end shutdown, bail out Trump
Patrick Martin
a day agoSenate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dick Durbin, D-Ill., listens to Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., speak at an oversight hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025 [AP Photo/Allison Robbert]
Eight Senate Democrats voted Sunday night to support a motion to begin debate on a Trump-backed budget resolution, dropping a phoney display of opposition to the would-be dictator-president and moving to end the partial shutdown of the federal government. This allowed for a 60-40 vote on a procedural resolution to bring a revised budget resolution to a vote in the Senate within days, on terms dictated by Trump and the Republicans.———————————-
The thing is that ACA ( AKA Obamacare) is a tax law approved by the US Congress. Since it is a taxation act, it places a big burden on the profits of the capitalist class and high-income individuals, but the left-wingers do not say that; they also propagate the wrong ideas that the workers are the taxpayers. The rich people are the ones who want to eliminate the Affordable Care Act, and some insurance companies want to increase their premiums and add pre-existing conditions again to make more profits.Sadly, millions of workers believe the lies that the immigrants are using their tax money to obtain medical services, and they voted for that when they elected Donald Trump, but most workers do not know that the capitalist state is financed with surplus value, and it is the executive apparatus of the capitalist class to manage their affairs, but workers believe that they are part of the state.
The Democratic leaders and the Republican leaders want to eliminate it because they also receive money from rich contributors, and most of them make a lot of money as senators and representatives and as investors, and some of them fall into the tax bracket for ACA. If the US working class had class consciousness, it would never support its own class enemies.

Whatever Donald Trump and his ministers and collaborators are doing now, it is not a surprise, he said it on his political campaign before being elected, and more than 75 million voters supported it.

ACA tax law includes provisions like premium tax credits for health insurance, an additional 0.9% Medicare tax, and a 3.8% Net Investment Income Tax (NIIT). While the federal individual mandate was repealed in 2019, some states have their own individual mandates with penalties. The ACA also requires employers to report the cost of health coverage on employee W-2s for informational purposes.
Key ACA tax provisions
Premium Tax Credit (PTC): This credit helps lower monthly premium payments for individuals and families who purchase health coverage through the ACA marketplace. You may need to file Form 8962 to reconcile any advance credit payments with the credit you’re eligible for.
Additional Medicare Tax: An extra 0.9% Medicare tax applies to wages or compensation exceeding $200,000 for individuals or $250,000 for married couples filing jointly.
Net Investment Income Tax (NIIT): A 3.8% tax is applied to the net investment income of individuals, estates, and trusts that have income above certain thresholds ($200,000 for single filers, $250,000 for married couples).
Employer reporting: Employers must report the cost of employer-sponsored health coverage on Form W-2, Box 12 (code DD). This is for informational purposes and is not taxable income.
** repealed individual mandate:** The federal penalty for not having health insurance was eliminated starting in 2019.
State mandates: Some states have enacted their own individual mandates and may have penalties for not having health insurance.———————
There is one simpler solution, Medicare for all workers ( like the one provided to the retiree ), but it is not going to be approved.
—————————-
Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), health insurance companies cannot refuse coverage, charge more, or limit benefits for any pre-existing medical condition. This protection applies to all ACA-compliant plans, including those purchased through the Health Insurance Marketplace and most employer-sponsored plans.
What is a Pre-existing Condition?
A pre-existing condition is any health problem (physical or mental) that you had before the date your new health coverage started. Examples of conditions that were commonly considered pre-existing before the ACA include:
Asthma
Cancer
Diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2)
Heart conditions (e.g., coronary artery disease, heart failure)
High blood pressure/cholesterol
Depression and other mental health conditions
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
Sleep apnea
Epilepsy
Pregnancy
Key Protections Under the ACA
Guaranteed Coverage: Insurers cannot deny you coverage or refuse to sell you a policy because of your health status.
No Higher Premiums: Insurers cannot charge you a higher premium based on your health or medical history. Premiums can only vary by age, location, family size, and tobacco use.
No Waiting Periods: Coverage for pre-existing conditions begins immediately, from the first day your plan is active.
Essential Health Benefits: Plans must cover a comprehensive set of “essential health benefits” (EHB), and cannot exclude benefits for specific pre-existing conditions.
Exceptions
The only major exception to these rules is for “grandfathered” individual health insurance plans—those purchased on or before March 23, 2010. These older plans are not required to cover pre-existing conditions or comply with all ACA regulations. If you have a grandfathered plan, you can switch to an ACA-compliant Marketplace plan during open enrollment or a special enrollment period to gain these protections.
Note: Short-term health insurance plans and limited-benefit plans may not be ACA-compliant and can still have coverage exclusions or limitations for pre-existing conditions. It is important to check the plan details carefully.

ParticipantThe main concern of the leftists is Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates, and taxing the rich, to remove right-wing leaders and replace them with one of their own. They are not a threat to capitalism; with them, capitalism will always exist. For them, Soros controls the whole world instead of the market system

ParticipantI understand that capitalism is capitalism — that’s clear to me. But here, liberals and many on the left talk about oligarchy, while very few mention in their writings and speeches the capitalist mode of production, which would actually address the root cause of the so-called oligarchy.
———————————————–The so-called liberals are not liberals either; they advocate for state-controlled or regulated capitalism. What the leftists call neo liberalism is monetarism.
They have spent their whole life talking about neo liberalism, but they do not talk about the real causes of our society, which is capitalism.
To transfer or to sell state property to private capitalists is not neoliberalism, and the state is not a public institution; it is the private institution of the capitalist class. Most of their definitions and concepts are wrong

ParticipantLeftists are always inventing new terms that are old terms. Capitalism has always been governed and controlled by a minority; and it is a society for a minority, it is nothing new.
Their conception is related to their wrong ideas about the state; they think that the state is a neutral institution for all members of society, as well as they think that the state is financed by the working class, that wars are financed by the workers and that workers have a national debt, therefore, according tp their views workers are part of the capitalist state and that in a socialist society workers are going to have their own state.
It is not; the state it is the executive organ of the capitalist class to administer their socio-economic affairs, ( It was clearly indicated on the Communist Manifesto, and Scientific socialism ) that is not where their wrong conception of the so-called workers’ state comes from, in a socialist society workers are not going oppress each other, and the working class is not going to be a ruling class, it will negate itself a a social class, it will not be a proletarian class any more,
They are still enarbolating the dictatorship of the proletariat, which is a temporary measure that belongs to the 19th century, because capitalism was not a worldwide spread economic system.
With the development of capitalism, the DOP is no longer needed; they are still living in the past, and personally, I think Marx should not have elaborated on that concept, which has created much confusion, and Lenin completely distorted it.
In the particular state of the United States of America, it has always been governed by an oligarchy since the very beginning, and several of the so-called Founding Fathers were members of the capitalist class.Joe Biden discovered last year that the US was governed by an oligarchy;y, old news is not new news. He did not apply it to himself; they think that the only country controlled by an oligarchy is Russia, all countries around the world are governed by an oligarchy, including the so-called socialist countries

Free college tuition, as well as Peron in Argentina, implemented a free tuition program too.
Most of his reforms have already been implemented in other countries, especially third-world countries; nothing new. Some universities had free transportation for the students, and others had their own transportation, free meals, textbooks sold without any profits by the universities, and open admissions
This is the list of the so-called socialist parties of the whole world that are part of the world social democracy and the international socialist. Several of them have implemented the same reforms.

ParticipantThe DSA is saying that the workers have defeated corporations, the capitalists and capitalism, but how?
The corporations are still and will continue producing surplus values, capitalism is still alive, the capitalists are still controlling the economy and the capitalist state, it is their economy and their superstructure.
‘Socialism” in one country, one region and one city is only an illusion created by the Bolsheviks and their variants
Real estate businesses are still producing fictitious capital; they produce capital from land royalties, which is not real capital. Workers are the only ones who can produce real social value, and in political economy, it indicates that planet Earth has no value.
In New York, most factory jobs were exported to China, Vietnam and other asian countries by the capitalists, and the republican and democratic governments supported those decisions, to produce more profits, and that increased the army of the unemployed to compete with each other for lower wages.
They continue displacing poor people from ethnic neighbourhoods to renovate and build expensive residences that the workers can not afford.
The DSA is only infiltrating their own members inside of a capitalist political party that is assimilating them, and they have approved several anti-worker measures passed by the Democratic Party. If you go to bed with dogs, you will get fleas.
They are just making propaganda and reactivating the Democratic Party, which was defeated by another capitalist party during the last election.
They compete with each other, taking turns to oppress and control the working class, which shows that left and right are just two wings of the same bird, known as capitalism.
https://www.dsausa.org/statements/zohran-mamdani-wins-national-political-committee-statement/. Their candidates are part of the Democratic Party; even more, Bernie Sanders, who calls himself independent, is also an affiliate of the Democratic Party

Should we be arguing that, if Mamdani’s bunch can increase rent controls, there might be a temporary improvement to workers’ living standards, but the law of value will operate on wages and the result will merely be a redistribution of surplus value away from the rentiers and towards the employers?
———————————————————————————
The main socialist argument, which is not the argument of the leftwinger, is that taxation produces a heavy burden on the capitalist profits, and to implement it, taxation on the capitalists must be increased, and the capitalists are going to push back, and the state would be forced to eliminate the program. Most rich people, landowners, and landlords are against those reforms because they know that they will affect their profits.
Real estate in New York is very expensive, and it produces high rental income
It might temporarily increase the standard of living of the workers for a short period of time, but nothing is free in a capitalist society
.Those programs must be implemented using higher taxation on the capitalists; it is a tax law, like Obamacare is a tax law, and that is the reason why the capitalists want to eliminate it.
Ciudadano Del Mundo
ParticipantThe main problem with those social democratic reformists ( calling themselves socialists ) is that when they fail, or their reformist programs can not be implemented, the capitalists blame it on socialism.
His program is new for the American ( USA ) workers, but it is not new for the Europeans and some Latin American countries, who have also elected social democrats, and socialism is not a dirty word.
It was implemented after the economic boom of the post-war period and high taxation on the capitalist class, but most of those programs have been reversed.
Some right-wing presidents and dictators have implemented programs of land reform for the peasants, price control, and rent control, and they have not worked; on the contrary, they have created more economic problems.
A president or a state minister can not control the market system.
In Venezuela, Hugo Chavez implemented some free programs for the workers, including housing, but they failed because capitalism must produce profits to avoid economic crisis.
Ciudadano Del Mundo
ParticipantI forgot to mention in my last message ( I can’t edit it ) that socialism is not going to be an economic system; it is a social production, or a society of freely associated labourers
