KeymasterBiden administration’s sale of oil leases in the Gulf of Mexico after yet another climate-driven hurricane has devastated the region.
The Department of Interio announced last week that it is opening up 80 million acres for oil and gas drilling. The government estimates that the sale will produce 1.12 billion barrels of oil over the next 50 years.

KeymasterMark Sedwill, a former ambassador to Afghanistan and senior adviser to two British prime ministers, said the emergency airlift out of Kabul had only helped “relatively small numbers” and greater pressures were likely to emerge as people fled overland.

KeymasterAre they so ignorant of capitalism?
I refer you to this blog post listing their business interests albeit some are run as criminal enterprises

Should we declare Wahhabi Saudi Arabia non-capitalist because of its medieval religion?
We know that Islamic banking practice of no usury can adapt to the rules of capitalist economics.
As a designated terrorist organisation like Hamas and Hizbollah, the Taliban will have difficulty accessing the international banking and trade institutions but as we see from those two, being part of or running an administration is not impossible to do.
The role of Pakistan will be crucial to the Taliban as it always has been.

Taliban forces and fighters loyal to local leader Ahmad Massoud, fought in Afghanistan’s Panjshir Valley on Thursday, with each side saying it had inflicted heavy casualties in recent days of combat in the last province resisting Taliban rule… several thousand fighters from local militias and the remnants of army and special forces units have massed in Panjshir. Under Ahmad Massoud, son of a former Mujahideen commander, they have been holding out in the province, a steep valley that makes attacks from outside difficult. KeymasterXR continue their campaign of protests
We already highlighted the exploitative behaviour of conservationists such as the WWF several years ago
Personally, I think these XR stunts are ill-timed and should have been scheduled for COP26.
A dry run for November? Perhaps.

KeymasterYet another sign that the State is intending to deprive the elderly of benefits
Two-thirds of the 3.7 million 60- to 65-year-olds in the UK face the threat of their free NHS prescriptions being removed despite half that age group having chronic and multiple ailments

KeymasterTariq Ali is in fantasy land when he tries to relate the US/NATO rout to the Palestinian issue.
Across the Sahel, the French-led US/NATO and African Union military alliance are in disarray and much like Afghanistan, corrupt governments hold only key capitals and cities.
Is he promoting as national liberation ISIS Islamic fundamentalism?
We stick true to our principled position, a plague on the lot of them.

KeymasterA Texas law banning abortions beyond around six weeks of pregnancy took effect at midnight after the U.S. Supreme Court did not act to block it, a decision that could have major implications for reproductive rights across the country.
Texas politicians will have effectively overturned Roe v. Wade.
It deputizing private individuals to enforce the sweeping abortion ban. Private individuals—including anti-abortion activists with no connection to patients—can now sue anyone who they believe is providing abortion or assisting someone in accessing abortion after six weeks. The law actively encourages private individuals to act as bounty hunters by awarding them at least $10,000 if they are successful.
Senate Bill 8 empowers private individuals to sue anyone who performs an abortion after the sixth week of a pregnancy—before many people even know they’re pregnant—or anyone who “knowingly engages in conduct that aids or abets the performance or inducement of an abortion.” Plaintiffs who prevail in court are entitled to $10,000 as well as the recovery of their legal fees.
