Gallup poll results revealed 49% of Democrats said they sympathize more with Palestinians, while 38% favored Israelis and 13% chose neither side or said they sympathize equally with both.

A decade ago, 55% of Democrats sympathized more with Israelis, while only 19% said they had more sympathy for Palestinians.

Republicans continue to favor Israelis, with 78% saying they sympathize with them, compared with just 11% for Palestinians.

Independents backed Israelis by 17 percentage points, 49%-32%.

    https://www.dw.com/en/farmed-animals-suffer-amid-exploding-meat-demand/a-64995013

The global production of animal flesh for human consumption was 45% higher in 2020 than in 2000 as the global taste for meat skyrockets.

The carnal boom is being fed through increased farming intensity, with animals such as chicken and pigs kept in smaller, more restrictive spaces such as cages, pens and stalls.

Animal meat production is bad for the climate, producing 14.5% of all greenhouse gas emissions — roughly equivalent to the entire global transport sector…Nitrogen-rich feed given to meat-producing animals also produces manure high in toxic ammonia, which in turn produces the potent greenhouse gas, nitrogen oxide

Having succeeded in reconciling Saudi Arabia and Iran, has China’s initiative got any chance.

China’s foreign minister urged Kyiv and Moscow to restart peace talks “as soon as possible,” saying Beijing fears the conflict “could escalate and get out of control.”

Beijing “hopes that all parties will keep calm, exercise restraint, resume peace talks as soon as possible and return to the track of political settlement,” Foreign Minister Qin Gang told his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in a phone call.

The call was the first official talks between the pair since the Chinese foreign minister took office in December.

Beijing last month published a position paper on Moscow’s war in Ukraine, calling for dialogue and seeking to position itself as a neutral mediator.

China’s Foreign Ministry said that Qin had reiterated his support for that proposal during the call, saying Beijing had “upheld an objective and just position on the Ukrainian issue, committed itself to promoting peace talks and called on the international community to create conditions for peace talks.”

Meanwhile, Kuleba tweeted that he and Qin discussed the “significance of the principle of territorial integrity” for Ukraine in a joint call.

As the moderator, I have always tried to convey the need for civil exchanges and to bring an end to juvenile name-calling.

Just how many times have I evoked Rule 7, “You are free to express your views candidly and forcefully provided you remain civil. Do not use the forums to send abuse, threats, personal insults or attacks, or purposely inflammatory remarks (trolling). Do not respond to such messages.”

Such remonstrations have had little overall effect.

We are a small group, and we have never tried to hide that fact, disclosing our membership numbers each year.

But those who disparage us for low numbers when we host them on the forum, permitting them to freely express their political opinions, I find somewhat ungrateful.

Although very vocal on the internet, do the Modern Money theorists have any standing among the orthodox economists?

Has their policy been followed anywhere?

Even Major Douglas’s social credit movement tried and failed to implement his ideas …in NZ and some Canadian provinces.

    April Fools Day

Russia will start a new recruitment campaign on 1 April, with the aim of recruiting 400,000, trying to compensate for its losses in specialised soldiers, such as tank drivers and artillerymen, the Vyorstka outlet has reported.

Radio Svoboda, citing several regional media outlets, has reported that the Russian defence ministry has already sent orders to regions indicating the number of people with whom military contracts should be signed. According to the plan, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk oblasts will have 10,000 contractors each, it said. In Perm Krai, 9,000 individuals will reportedly be recruited.

One of Putin’s declared objectives was the protection of the people of the DPR and LPR.

    TASS reports on that failure

“During the 382 days of escalation, 674 civilians, including 27 children, were killed in the territory within the borders existing **before** the start of the special military operation.

In the territory liberated **during** the special military operation, 3,779 civilians were killed, including 106 children. A total of 4,453 people were killed, including 133 children,”
