In France, Belgium and Switzerland, supermarket foyers have racks of French-language history-themed comic books. Here too, in the 1970s, these were appearing in English, as well as toys. In the Anglophone world all these history-themed comics and toys (excepting the Asterix books) disappeared at a stroke when the stupid Star Wars movie came out, and were replaced with fantasy.Our rulers and their media must take us for fools.
