KeymasterJonathan Cook keeps rising in my estimation as a keen-eyed political commentator. Here is his analysis of the anti-Corbyn campaign

KeymasterNot sure it is the correct thread topic but anyways.
“…Frustrated by more than a decade of research which claims to reveal intentions, feelings and even consciousness in plants, more traditionally minded botanists have finally snapped. Plants, they protest, are emphatically not conscious…”
“…Bothered by claims that plants have “brain-like command centres” in their root tips, and possess the equivalent of animal nervous systems, the critics counter there is no proof of sentient vegetation or structures within plants…”
“…Taiz believes the rise of plant neurobiology is driven by the environmental crisis that poses an ever-increasing threat to life on Earth.
“They want to raise people’s consciousness about plants as living organisms and reach them on an emotional level. I’m very sympathetic to the motivations, but it is clouding their objectivity. They have to be prepared for the fact that plants may not have consciousness,” he said. “It’s bad science. It takes the whole scientific enterprise and reduces its credibility.” “alanjjohnstone
KeymasterAnother piece to read.
https://www.commondreams.org/views/2019/07/02/thumbs-down-facebooks-cryptocurrency
“…the new Libra currency’s value will be fixed in terms of a global basket of currencies and 100% backed – presumably by a mix of government treasuries. So here’s another possible source of revenue: paying no interest on “deposits” (traditional currencies exchanged for Libra), Facebook can reap an arbitrage profit from the interest it receives on those “deposits.”…”

KeymasterStill to early to call but it does look like Sanders is dropping in the polls with both Harris and Warren rising to challenge the leading contender Biden.
And at the same time, the Establishment’s black ops are still undermining Corbyn, this time on his supposed failing health

KeymasterSome more discussion on what the author has called facebucks
https://www.commondreams.org/views/2019/07/01/facebucks-are-last-thing-world-needs
“…the key questions: Is Facebook introducing the first money in the world that is not backed by a sovereign or a sovereign state? Or is it a giant scam to launch a bank unfettered by any regulation? Or currency controls? Can states that allow Facebook to do so still control the money side of their economy?…”

KeymasterSpurred by your message, James, the blog has now posted something on the topic of Stonewall and gay rights. Not the best analysis but hopefully suffice to remedy the omission.

KeymasterIs this going to be the cause of the next slump?
“Corporate borrowing poses a danger to the global financial system and could trigger a crisis in the same way US sub-prime mortgages sparked the 2008 banking crash, the organisation that represents the world’s central banks has warned, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS)…$3tn (£2.4tn) market for low-grade corporate debt was already “overheating” and risked provoking a panic that could send market values crashing as happened 11 years ago.”

KeymasterThe US has deployed F-22 stealth fighters to Qatar for the first time, its military said Friday, adding to a buildup of US forces in the Gulf. tHE F-22 Raptor stealth fighters have been deployed “to defend American forces and interests,” the US Air Forces Central Military Command said in a statement but did not specify how many of the hi-tech planes had been sent.
In May, the US Air Force deployed several nuclear-capable B-52 Stratofortress bombers to the Gulf.

KeymasterNot the friendliest of organisations towards Maduro but the OAS projection puts the exodus between 7.5 million and 8.2 million in 2020, far surpassing the 6.7 million people who in eight years have fled Syria.
Ivan Briscoe, Latin America director for the International Crisis Group, noted that US sanctions since early 2019 have contributed to the ever-deepening economic downfall of that once-wealthy nation.
