KeymasterAn imminent purge of the CLPs in the Labour Party
Labour could suspend ‘thousands’ of members over antisemitism, Angela Rayner says | The Independent
The Labour Party will suspend “thousands and thousands” of members unless they “get real” about antisemitism, Angela Rayner has warned.
And the irony is that she is using the slogans of class solidarity to do it.
“If I have to suspend thousands and thousands of members, we will do that. Because we cannot and we will not accept an injury to one, because an injury to one is an injury to all. That’s what we say in our movement.”
Jewish Labour Movement chair Mike Katz welcomed Ms Rayner’s “commendably strong words”
“There’s been some really, really ugly scenes in CLP meetings across the country as offices and constituencies choose to ignore direction from the Labour Party and pass motions about Jeremy Corbyn.” Katz said there must be “the commitment to follow up suspensions with expulsion”
I don’t think such a purge will happen other than isolated individual cases but it is to create a hostile atmosphere against any criticism which is the intent, to suppress dissent.

KeymasterWithout ever proving itself under normal situations, the exception being the pandemic lockdown pay-outs, which perhaps has boosted its popularity and perception of practicality , the UBI remains a media talking point.
An over-view of the various positions and proposals across Europe.
Surely, by now, we could collate our many articles into detailed public statement and start a push-back.

But recall it was the SSP who were called unrealistic back in 2003 when they first proposed the reform but now even the Tories are on board.

KeymasterIn what can be considered as a follow-up article on Counterpunch. The author is unknown to me.
Lookout for Karl Marx! – CounterPunch.org
A nice quote from Engels in it
“Complete abstention from political action is impossible … Living experience, the political oppression of the existing governments compels the workers to occupy themselves with politics, whether they like it or not, be it for political or for social goals. To preach abstention to them is to throw them into the embrace of bourgeois politics. The morning after the Paris Commune, which has made proletarian political action an order of the day, abstention is entirely out of the question. We want the abolition of classes. What is the means of achieving this? The only means is political domination of the proletariat … However, our politics must be working-class politics. The workers’ party must never be the tagtail of any bourgeois party; it must be independent and have its goals and its own policy.”

KeymasterMohsen Fakhrizadeh, Iran’s top nuclear scientist, assassinated near Tehran – BBC News
Another example of very likely Israeli state terrorism which in the West will not condemn. But when Iran retaliates, then the governments will be in uproar.
It is perhaps the swan-song of the departing Trump administration who were determined to break the Iran deal and it is probable the murder will make it harder for Biden to make reconciliations with Iran.
Perhaps the proxy terrorists MEK were involved.

KeymasterTrouble with this type of reporting is that it omits the other war machine participants, mainly China and Russia. As they say, it takes two to tango.
What Does China Really Spend on its Military? | ChinaPower Project (csis.org)

Even Sweden is increasing its military budget by 40%
Sweden To Increase Defense Spending By 40% Amid Russia Fears (forbes.com)
What we have to do is not go after the usual suspects, the easy villains of the piece but to relate ALL militarism to capitalism and although i admire Jonathan Cook, he fails to do this.
‘…But concrete, identifiable enemies are needed too. Russia, Iran and China give superficial credence to the war machine’s presentation of itself as a “defence” industry…’
In the Chessboard of the Great Powers China, Russia and Iran are not innocent victims.

KeymasterAn article coming from a different and interesting angle .
I was going to put this on the white privilege thread and perhaps it is more relevant there
“…The Democratic Party establishment has allowed the Republicans, and especially Trump, to mobilize what amounts to class resentment in the service of plutocracy. Meanwhile, we on the left, with rare exceptions, have failed to offer a message that resonates with or sufficiently motivates millions of working-class voters and non-voters. We rarely encounter, nor have we learned to connect with, many of our fellow-citizens. We don’t know how to talk to the working class…”
This is also a related article
Yes, the Left Should Talk to Trump Supporters – CounterPunch.org
“…leftists must organize Trump supporters. If we don’t, someone else will. Remember, organizing people who disagree with us is quite literally the essence of organizing…”
