KeymasterIt was specific to the UK and that was made very clear in the content. Hispano Chuck is comparing with the USA which is very different.

KeymasterCan we be surprised that he died at such an early age. After all, they had been drugging him up he was in his pre-teens, ignoring the physicians calling to first do no harm…getting him fit for the field always had priority.

KeymasterPerhaps we can wonder what members thought about having to obey the blackout laws during WW2. Self-protection?

KeymasterSicily has asked Cuba’s government to send about 60 healthcare workers, including doctors and nurses.
Between March and April this year, Cuban medical teams landed in some of Italy’s worst-hit regions, including Lombardy and Piedmont, to replace overworked Italian professionals.
Other medical brigades have fanned out across the world to fight Covid-19 in 20 other countries, from South Africa to Suriname.

KeymasterObama said part of the reason 73 million Americans voted to re-elect Donald Trump in the election was because of messaging from Republicans that the country, particularly white men, are under attack.
“What’s always interesting to me is the degree to which you’ve seen created in Republican politics the sense that white males are victims,” Obama said. “They are the ones who are under attack – which obviously doesn’t jive with both history and data and economics. But that’s a sincere belief, that’s been internalized, that’s a story that’s being told and how you unwind that is going to be not something that is done right away.”

KeymasterMS, there does appear to be from the Biden-friendly media a serious attempt to misrepresent his appointments as being inclusive of progressive-leaning politicians

KeymasterWhile we recognise the capability of capitalism to provide results when needed, we also have experience where in its haste to accrue benefits mistakes are made.
AstraZeneca manufacturing error clouds vaccine study results (apnews.com)
But science does correct for mistakes…sometimes quickly, other times slower.
But most of all, it shows the need for full disclosure on research projects so that anomalies can be appraised.

Keymaster“I asked you whether you endorsed the idea that local communities ought to be able to take decisions that affected them alone to the exclusion of other local communities since this directly calls into question your suggestion that the whole of society – meaning global society – should be involved in all decision making.”
This is a question for all of us.
What extent should local democracy have over issues that have wider implications?
I’m referring to any veto that can be exercised by NIMBYism.
Also the issue raised by the so-called “national” (racist) anarchists who call for autonomous ethnic homogenous communities.
We take for granted that decisions that impact only locally are made locally but often the delineation can often be blurred. Once again it is a debate about the rights and welfare of minority against the will and well-being of the majority.
I’m confident that by the time we have set up a socialist society many of the problems of administration will be resolved but it would be Utopian not to expect any conflict in the practice of democratic decision-making.

KeymasterMS, i keep reading in the liberal media praise for Biden’s diversity in choosing some of his staff.
We in the UK, too, have a female first generation immigrant as our Home Secretary and she has demonstrated no sympathy whatsoever for new migrants or refugees but rather has double down on anti-immigrant government policy.

KeymasterThe legislation is specific as my post on this explains if you scroll down 😛
It will be for the country’s 32 councils to decide what practical arrangements are put in place, but they must give “anyone who needs them” access to different types of period products “reasonably easily” and with “reasonable dignity”.

KeymasterI can ask you the same question – what would you do, BD, if humanity democratically pointed out that your views were out of kilter with the rest of humanity?
Humanity regularly votes BD’s views out of kilter since he is a member of an organisation that places its position to the vote. And that position is frequently rejected.
But he (and i) persevere since might is not always right, nor the majority.
