Russian lender Gazprombank has decided to freeze the accounts of Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA and halted transactions with the firm to reduce the risk of the bank falling under U.S. sanctions.
The bank has held PDVSA accounts for several years. In 2013, PDVSA said it signed a deal with Gazprombank for $1 billion in financing for the Petrozamora company. The source said that Petrozamora accounts were frozen, too.
PDVSA was telling customers of its joint ventures to deposit oil sales proceeds in its Gazprombank accounts, according to sources and an internal document, in a move to try to sideline fresh U.S. sanctions on PDVSA.
Russian firms find themselves in a quandary, caught between a desire to endorse the Kremlin line and back Maduro, and the fear that by doing so they could expose themselves to secondary U.S. sanctions which would harm their businesses.
Former Labour vice chairman Michael Dugher has said he is intending to leave the party, saying he now regards it as “institutionally antisemitic”.
Dugher, who was elected as MP for Barnsley East in 2010 and left Parliament in May 2017, claimed the party he joined nearly three decades ago “no longer exists” He served as vice chairman of the party under Ed Miliband between 2011 and 2014 and later became shadow secretary for transport and culture. Dugher, also a former vice chairman of the Labour Friends of Israel group
He said Labour’s decision under Miliband to support a backbench motion which would unilaterally recognise a Palestinian state was “a fundamental and rather catastrophic political management error”.
He couldn’t accuse Miliband of anti-semitism since Miliband is a secular jew, could he?

I also expect that a few copy-cat Brexit yellow vests will make an appearance and from all accounts they are right-wing thugs in disguise. But they will be invisible in the great numbers protesting. I believe 650,000 turned out for the last march.
Better than leaflets are banners held up…easy to spot as all the protesters march by rather than the few who receive a leaflet… There is time to design a special EU one. Sorry not got a snappy slogan for you but I am sure you can think of one that will go with our World Socialism party logo.
