KeymasterAgain, some will query the content of this article. Particularly the glaring omission of any mention of the largest of the impossibilists, ourselves.
As I explained in the WSPUS article, I have no wish to make the article seem like a blatant recruitment appeal. I wanted it to appear detached. My purpose is simply very basic, to try and gain some name recognition for our North American companion parties. As soon as the WSPUS article disappeared from the main page, I submitted this one as a follow-on to gain attention again
I’m mentioned as a SPGB member in the author bio and there is a direct link to the broken WSM site, and two of our blogs, so it isn’t as if the SPGB has been neglected, however, I judged that if I included references to the SPGB, then some readers (and the website) might decide I was just spamming our Party and not submitting a piece on socialist history.
DV gets up to a couple thousand hits a day. Certainly, not the biggest progressive website.

KeymasterThe world’s leading scientists will warn the planet’s life-support systems are approaching a danger zone for humanity. Up to 1m species are at risk of annihilation, many within decades. People living today, as well as wildlife and future generations, are at risk unless urgent action is taken to reverse the loss of plants, insects and other creatures on which humanity depends for food, pollination, clean water and a stable climate.

Keymaster“The president has been crystal clear and incredibly consistent—military action is possible,” Pompeo said, “In the event that there comes a moment—and we’ll all have to make decisions about when that moment is and the president will ultimately have to make that decision—he’s prepared to do that if that’s what’s required,”

“…she wanted to provoke a mass refusal to repay debt that would upend the financial system.
“Economic growth tends to require the taking of resources from the Earth. So something has to change on a debt-based economy,” said Bradbrook, sitting in the group’s central London headquarters next to a coffin with “Our Future” written on the side.
“That would entail a mass refusal to pay off mortgages and student loans,” she said.
“Debt resistance” groups in Britain, the United States and elsewhere argue that refusing to pay debts would spark discussion about alternatives to the global economic system….”54 percent of adults agreed that climate-change threatens our extinction as a species
22 percent said they supported the aims and tactics of Extinction Rebellion, with 32 percent in disagreement.

Keymaster“Brexit has been an almighty distraction and those who are really worried about the future of Britain should be looking more at social policy than Brexit because that’s where the future is being decided. It is like a husband and wife arguing furiously and endlessly over what sort of car to buy but meanwhile they are letting the house fall apart, they are losing contact with the people to whose houses they would be driving, the picnic places they would have wanted to go to are being sold up and by the time they make their decision, they are going to have lost so much that either result is going to be hollow – whether leave or remain.”

KeymasterAlabama voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to outlaw almost all abortions in the state. The text of the Alabama bill likens legalized abortion to history’s greatest atrocities, including the Holocaust.
Louise Alexander, a Democrat, said the choice to give birth to a child should be left up to a woman, and the decision should not be made on the floor of the Alabama Legislature.
“You don’t know why I may want to have an abortion. It may be because of my health. It may be because of many reasons. Until all of you in this room walk in a woman’s shoes, y’all don’t know,”Rolanda Hollis, a Birmingham Democrat, read a poem that criticized Republicans’ embrace of gun rights but not abortion rights, and later referred to the state as “Ala-Backwards.”

KeymasterA report, commissioned by the Green party on the London Assembly, paints a bleak picture of life in the capital as global temperatures increase.
The report found:
Half of the underground stations in central London will be “at significant risk of flooding” with the Northern and Central lines most affected. One in five schools in the capital will face a high-risk of flooding.
Two-thirds of London flats will face extreme overheating by the 2030s.
London is the most vulnerable city in western Europe to floods, extreme cold, windstorms and drought as global temperatures rise.

Keymaster“Lopez is the US preferred leader”
His wife certainly appears to be the spokesperson for the opposition in the US and she definitely has the ear of Trump’s Venezuelan hawks.
Already there is a PR campaign by US to explain the failure of the coup. But the point is, unlike the failed coup against Chavez, the people did not come out on the streets.
Whether this is Trump’s Bay of Pigs i’m not so sure. I think another coup may well still be considered.
But as this struggle for power carries on, the people continue to suffer.
