Under guidelines, an example of anti-Semitism is accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.
Fox News however can say of a Muslim politician “…you have to wonder if she’s an American first.”
While a Republican congressman has spread false allegations that Ilhan Omar denied the September 11 hijackers were terrorists
April 13, 2019 at 2:59 am #185160alanjjohnstoneKeymasterThe Australia Labor Party candidate for the West Australian seat of Curtin, Melissa Parke, has pulled out following reports that she told a public meeting last month that the way Israel treated Palestinians was “worse than the South African system of apartheid”.
April 14, 2019 at 1:00 am #185181alanjjohnstoneKeymasterOne of Israel’s new friends, Bolsonaro of Brasil, stated that the Nazi genocide of the Jews during World War Two could be forgiven.
He also asserted, after a tour of the Holocaust memorial Yad Vadshem, that the Nazis had been “leftists.”
Netanyahu as yet makes no comment

April 18, 2019 at 12:31 am #185372alanjjohnstoneKeymaster“An individual has a right to buy or not buy what they please. However, if there is an organized movement to economically strangle the state of Israel, that is anti-Semitic… We are going to focus relentlessly on eradicating this false distinction between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism.” – Elan Carr, the Trump administration’s newly appointed Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating “Anti-Semitism”

Is there any way of deleting your post before this “quote” spreads all over the internet?
April 23, 2019 at 11:15 am #185541alanjjohnstoneKeymasterRe-reading I see that I misinterpreted this. It is a hypothetical supposition.
April 23, 2019 at 2:03 pm #185548ALBKeymasterIncidentally James Joyce refused to travel on an Irish Free State passport as he regarded that state as a joke. He had a British one. Not a lot of Irish Nationalists know that.
April 24, 2019 at 1:43 am #185567alanjjohnstoneKeymasterI once mediated between a vociferous argument between two Irishmen about who was really Irish and who was the “plastic paddy”, the one born under the Free State which legally was a dominion recognising the Crown and had a British governor albeit chosen by the Irish government and the one born later in 1949 when the Republic was formally declared, although he went to the UK as a baby
April 24, 2019 at 6:43 am #185569ALBKeymasterThere’s a famous anti-Free State song “Take It Down From the Mast, Irish Traitors, It’s the Flag We Republicans Claim, It will never belong to Free Staters”, a product of the civil war amongst Irish Nationalists that followed the so-called War of Independence there. James Joyce opposed it on other grounds of course.
