The term BAME can be insulting and should be retired from use, a survey of UK sporting organisations has found.
BAME, which stands for Black Asian and Minority Ethnic, has become a default phrase to describe any non-white person or group. But the term “places recognition on some communities whilst ignoring others entirely” and does not allow for “ethnic and cultural complexities”
The findings come just days after the chair of the Football Association, Greg Clarke, was forced to resign over his use of the term “coloured people” during a parliamentary committee meeting.
Arun Kang, the chief executive of Sporting Equals, said “Gone are the days where we can use umbrella terminology to hide under-representation and a lack of effort to engage with varied ethnic communities. Racism cannot have a one-size-fits-all approach.”
Tomorrow on Saturday in Washington DC we will see just how many will take to the streets to support Trump’s claims in what is being called the “Million MAGA March” to “Stop the Steal.”

To sum up, Americans turned out for this election in slightly larger numbers, but the turnout was still way down compared to other ‘liberal democracies’. They voted even more strongly for the Democratic candidate than in 2016, but the constitutional peculiarities of the election system made the result quite close – although, more or less, in line with pollster forecasts. Biden won because America’s ethnic minorities overcame the white majority. Biden won because younger Americans voted for Biden sufficiently to overcome Trump majorities among older voters. Biden won because working class Americans voted for him in sufficient numbers to overcome the votes of the small town business-people and rural areas.

Once more we get this all-pervading religious imagery from the Right. We discuss the lesser and greater evil, while they talk about Satanic Evil. We have seen the prosperity gospel preachers anointing Trump as God’s Messenger and depicting the Liberal-Left as representing the Anti-Christ. Some could say it puts the Taliban and their fellow theocrats to shame.

It seems when you are confronted by what a prominent Chartist actually says, you distract from it…Does that sound like anybody you know?
Maybe you think what is meant by “Red Republican” is someone who on the left who isn’t an admirer of the Democratic Party or of Biden – a Trumper. If anybody who fails to understand the Chartist movement, it is the person who first referenced them which was yourself hoping to prevail with the logical fallacy of appeal to authority. It won’t wash. We are well accustomed to Marx and Engels being used to justify false arguments.
When the Chartists were advocating revolution, the lesser evil proponents such as yourself were urging for the reform of the Corn Laws because that was practical and pragmatic and avoided any social change.
Instead the Chartists were stating:
