KeymasterWhen it comes to foreign policy, there is little change as Biden serves American interests.
Biden has said it’s a “simple truth” that “Crimea is Ukraine” and promised the United States “will never recognise Russia’s purported annexation of the peninsula”.

KeymasterThe Gulf Stream, the weather system that brings warm and mild weather to Europe, is at its weakest in more than a millennium. Further weakening of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) if global heating continues, could bring us close to a “tipping point” at which the system could become irrevocably unstable.
“The consequences of this are so massive that even a 10% chance of triggering a breakdown would be an unacceptable risk.”

KeymasterModerna expects to rake in $18.4bn (£13bn) of sales from its coronavirus vaccine this year, marking a huge turnaround in the fortunes of the US biotech firm.
The expected revenue is far higher than the $11.2bn predicted by analysts, and exceeds the $15bn in sales that its US rival Pfizer expects for the Covid-19 vaccine…

The University of Bristol’s Islamic Society (BRISOC) said Professor Steven Greer of the Law School is reported for his “Islamophobic rhetoric”
Greer listed several other human rights challenges related to Islam, including freedom of thought, conscience and religion, and the position of non-Muslims in Muslim countries. Another section related to the position of women in Islam, said students, referring to lines that said Muslim women experienced “physical chastisement by husbands” and “women who wear hijab were less likely to work outside home or be involved in higher education”.

KeymasterBiden’s nominee to be director of the CIA, William Burns, told a Senate committee on Wednesday that he saw competition with China – and countering its “adversarial, predatory” leadership – as the key to U.S. national security.
He called China “a formidable, authoritarian adversary,” that is strengthening its ability to steal intellectual property, repress its people, expand its reach and build influence within the United States.
Burns said that if he were a U.S. college or university president, he would recommend shutting down Confucius Institutes – Beijing-funded campus cultural centers that many members of Congress see as propaganda tools.

The announcement of £4bn “levelling up” money for England last year triggered an extra £800m for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Treasury has now been confirmed this cash will be run as a UK-wide initiative, not a fund for England with extra money given to the other nations under the Barnett formula.SNP’s deputy Westminster leader Kirsten Oswald criticised the way the funding was being controlled. She said: “The Tory government’s move to bypass the devolved governments and dictate spending over devolved areas is yet another sign of its naked power grab plans. The Welsh government has also hit out at the announcement, accusing the Westminster government of “aggressively” undermining devolution.”

Keymaster“I’m pleased to announce the United States will seek election to the Human Rights Council for the 2022-24 term,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken told the council by video.
But before we applaud, Blinken continued
“As the United States re-engages, we urge the Human Rights Council to look at how it conducts its business. That includes its disproportionate focus on Israel,” Blinken said. “We will continue to call out abuses in places like Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Iran.”

Keymasterthey are branding themselves “Conservative and Unionist” in Scotland
The Tories have been known as the Conservative and Unionist Party in Scotland for quite a while – long before the threat arose from the SNP.
The 16 and 17 yr old vote can be seen as the follow-up to permitting them a say in the 2014 referendum, around a 100,000 16 and 17 yr olds voted in it so logic meant offering them local government and Scottish Parliament votes.
But it remains 18 for the general election.
