KeymasterThe Re-Newed Cold War
Putin has approved a revised version of Russia’s national security strategy that outlines measures to respond to foreign influence.
https://www.dw.com/en/russia-putin-approves-strategy-to-counter-western-influence/a-58151622
According to the 44-page document, growing pressure from Western countries poses a danger to Russian society.
“The ‘Westernization’ of culture increases the danger that the Russian Federation will lose its cultural sovereignty,” the new strategy says. The document claims that Russian “traditional spiritual-moral and cultural-historical values are under active attack from the US and its allies,” including transnational institutions. It stresses that Russia “considers it legitimate to take symmetrical and asymmetric measures” to prevent “unfriendly actions” by foreign states. The document also claims that the West is trying to use Russia’s social and economic problems to destabilize society and radicalize protest.

KeymasterRegardless of my personal view, GG has been subject to the usual media smearing but he is well accustomed to it and gets enough publicity out of it
GG has been particularly anti-‘woke’ on various identity politics on sex-education and transgender.
Other than Palestine and Keir Starmer’s leadership (the latter being foremost) he has been more bread-and-butter on pot-holes and run-down buildings.

KeymasterOh, I should have mentioned that the ICC couldn’t resist disparaging ourselves as:
“…a semi-fossilised survivor from the days when the Second International was a proletarian organisation, maintains its profound illusions in a “parliamentary road” to socialism…”alanjjohnstone
KeymasterThe ICC references myself, the SPGB and our SOYMB blog in its analysis of the Palestinian problem and the attitudes of various anarchists with a mixture of ‘praise’ qualified with criticism.

KeymasterAnother attack on the pensions and aged.
First, let me declare I have no horse in this race. My state pension is frozen and does not rise each year.
But over the years, there has been a sustained onslaught upon the so-called ‘privileged’ status of OAPs with their triple-locked pensions.
The Guardian carries yet another article designed to incite a divisive generation war.

KeymasterThe European Commission has said it will work towards new laws to phase out caged animal farming across the bloc. Rabbits, young hens, quails, ducks and geese would be affected by the changes.
“Animals are sentient beings and we have a moral, societal responsibility to ensure that on-farm conditions for animals reflect this,” EU health commissioner Stella Kyriakides said.
The new legislation will be proposed by 2023 and the changes would be gradually phased in by 2027.
