I had a Swiss friend who was a classical musician. He luckily found a shrink who got him off the draft. His brother wasn’t so lucky, but said he kept only two bullets in his gun: one to shoot his commanding officer, the other to shoot himself.
Switzerland is the only country in which the army demonstrates against the army. Plus, all workers’ families have a rifle, so the govt has to go lightly.

Must pull you up in this, historically. The Renaissance crushed women, began witch hunting, reinforced male dominance, and established autocratic monarchy, enclosed land, imperialism, racism and nation states.
The freedoms of the so-called Middle Ages were done away with.
Enough of this now disproven notion of the “Middle Ages” being a time of retrogression and stagnation between the “wonderful” Roman Empire and the “glorious” Renaissance!!!😡

Better a fascist who opposes war than a “liberal” who promotes it.

Not all lumpens. Many support Starmer et al, and believe “we” must “get ready” for war. At the moment, the populist parties in Europe are opposing the rush to war. And since war is the absolute worst of scenarios, from which there will be no return, I submit that the pro-war “liberal” parties are worse than the populists.
They are monopolising anti-Starmer and anti-war (while they’re not yet in power) sentiment, but then mouthing off against poor immigrants. I cannot count the number of times I open a Youtube video of someone opposed to militarisation, only to discover, less than two minutes in, that they start blaming immigration. Definitely National rather than “Socialist”!
Surely Washington can veto NATO decisions? It isn’t doing so, so what the UK, France and Germany are doing obviously has US approval.
