ModeratorI posted the following message somewhere else on the Party forum, so sorry for any duplication but –
Why are we not standing in the Mayor elections? Here in Greater Manchester I’ve just received a booklet through the letter box, containing the manifesto of candidates.
Apparently it costs £5000 to stand for mayor. So the cost isn’t an issue for us.
The booklet contains information about what I believe is an intellectually challenged independent candidate, who says he’ll “Keep your Car”, on top of the usual party candidates.
It made me think we could maybe have invested £5000 in sending the party case to everyone in Greater Manchester?
If a right wing business man with £5000 and a car can do it, why can’t we?

ModeratorI’m very much enjoying this thread, my contribution is in honour of Bob Marley. A genuinely great man. It was a shock he died so young [not posting as a moderator]

ModeratorI would put this in the musical anti-war category and therefore deserving of a post on our forum (personal capacity)

ModeratorYou need to reflect and back down right now Ozymandias or you will be kicked off this forum. We do not refer to each other as “cunts”. So retract now or you will be moderated out of this SPGB forum.

ModeratorYes, I think I see what you are saying ActualSocialist10. You are saying that, if Islamic fundamentalists share equal rights in a democracy, the socialist revolution is doomed. Well that is correct – assuming that the fundamentalists are a majority of the world’s population.
However you seem to be saying that asylum seekers are a threat to world socialism. It’s almost as if Suella Braverman joined this forum for a laugh.

ModeratorThank you DJP I loved your musical choices!

ModeratorHmmmm I don’t necessarily agree with what comrade moderator has done. We had a music thread that – last time I looked- had members of this forum engaged. Okay, we might not always have prefaced our music posts with a learned discourse. But surely we were all getting the point. Music can speak more than words sometimes. I accept my moderator comrade’s decision of course. But unfortunately all the music lovers here will now have to go on a weirdly cumbersome journey via this thread and the newly formed “off topic” thread to continue our musical journey to socialism. As if this forum wasn’t hard enough to navigate!

ModeratorThe horror of being homeless is an important issue and thank you Thomas for drawing our attention to it. I think this thread would be better named “homelessness” instead of “Working class solidarity?”. [Although I’m a moderator I’m a novice so don’t know how to change the heading even if that’s possible.] My own take on the links posted by Thomas is that the council workers were just doing what they are paid to do, unfortunately. Idiots. And the actions of the McDonalds manager were rightly called out as unacceptable. Personally speaking, I think most people empathise with the homeless – “There but for the grace of god go I” kind of thing. Especially at this time of year, when it’s so cold wet windy and downright horrible outdoors.
