Mate I often talk pish on this forum esp when it comes to my love/hate relationship with the working class. I'm also fascinated to learn about the origins of the Lennon lyric. Perhaps it's just my arrogance on wondering how anyone could ever have arrived at such a lyric without first having read SPGB lit. I find that astonishing .

"re copyright. I have had this video up for some time using material of John Lennon."I think I posed this question before but didn't Lennon have a copy of "Questions of the Day" on him when he wrote the lyric for Imagine? I can't remember which old party member told me that when I was about. 16. Lets face it he couldn't have come up with those lines had he been immersed in Maoist/Trot/Leninist tracts. Going off topic here sorry.

I just watched the video again and it is excellent. I regret saying the narration should be changed because I guess I've caused offence yet again. Also I was also totally wrong when I said no one would watch it as it's had well over 1000 views in a week. I was talking shite. The problem with forums like this one is that sooner or later things end up in a fisticuffs situation with resentment brewing up. You only have to scan the comments section of any online newspaper article or YouTube video and sooner or later things turn into a slanging match. It's easy to sit behind a screen and pontificate. I do it all the time. There wouldn't be anywhere near this level of animosity if everyone was siting in the pub together talking. Double edged sword the net.

Why mention Scottish Newsreaders ALB? Because I'm a Scot? How pathetic. Same old same old with the SPGB I see. The commentary might be easy for you and I to understand but surely this is a global message and the guy narrating is going to cause people to switch off abroad. Not that anyone will watch the fucking thing anyway.

Just watched this. V good. However could a foreign audience actually understand the text as narrated by a heavy regional accent? No problem for anyone here in the UK. But for an English student in Moldova or a housewife in Nigeria? In the comments section underneath the video on YouTube a lady asks for a full transcription saying "it would be easy to understand clearly and translate in several languages". Forgive me but you need a new narrator for this. With crystal clear diction.

Yes I read this a few days ago. Thing is it doesn't explain the fact that I've read references to the middle class on here and on the twitter feed. The answer is the middle class do exist socially but not structurally? So they do exist as a class at the same time as being a subsumed into 99%. It's like the paradox of falling into a super massive black hole. You are simultaneously spaghettified yet survive.

Does the middle class simultaneously exist and not exist?

Would the owning class blow themselves up? The thing is it's the danger from ISIS et al as well as the possibility of accidents or some zany General who might be working in a silo who could trigger it off. It terrifies me but each crazy year that goes by seems to me closer to this Armageddon. It's as if each year is a magnification of it's predecessor. Each of the big holy books finishes with a holocaust. One of the failed Republican candidates (Carson) is a 7th Day Adventist and this group seek to hasten the end of days. This is the situation we are in. Along with the fact that our masters have the workers still exactly where they want them with mass blind acceptance of Capitalism as "Just Life" . I don't have any respect for my class or faith in them. It's my own self loathing I guess!  With tiny green sprouts of WSM type thinking emerging across the net, do we have enough time in this race against time? That cunt Mao once said "Nuclear War is Inevitable". I hope the old bastard was wrong.

With this unexpected result what would be the consensus among members here? Depressed that workers are still swallowing the same old xenophobic shit, heartened that  "white working class" proles have stuck the vicky up to the "political establishment" (in a very round about way) or just a feeling of being nonplussed?

Astounding and outstanding article there from an "F.Foan" from 1915 "The good times…"

Just listening to those two lefties completely depressed me. One of them jokingly refered to himself as a "Trot" and he even said "if you want Capitalism to work…" which encapsulates the SPGB ctritique of the "Left" because in reality humane capitalism is all they want. They just don't have the intelligence to see beyond the wages system. Hearing the main speaker rhapsodise about the glorious "victories" in the "struggle" makes me want to vomit. The WSM argument just goes completely over their heads yet they talk to us as if the SPGB is just another fragment of the broad church of leftism! After almost 120 years of effort on the part of the SPGB we are still hearing the same shit from the "Left". Their hero worship of Corbyn sickness me. Plus the same old patronising bollocks of theirs that whilst the SPGB apparently just sits on it's arse "talking" the real class warriors are out there on the barricades in the eternal war "doing something in the meantime". Fuck them all.I was also disappointed with the response of Bill Martin who just seemed to almost commiserate with them. It's a far cry from years ago when reformists like this would have been utterly demolished in a debate. Now all there is are a handful of people gassing at the back of a pub. Maybe Bill Martin just thought what's the point in even trying to engage these blowhards in debate. The guy obviously has a brilliant mind but his language would be an instant turn off to your average worker. What is so dishearteningis if these are the views of the most "enlightened" members of the working class (insofar as they have an inkling of class consciousness being trades union organisers) then what are average workers thinking? Almost fuck all by the looks of it. With their smartphones they are becoming ever more dumbed down. With a vast libaray of knowledge at their fingertips they know even less. We don't have a snowballs chance in hell of seeing Socilaism. This is the element which strikes me.
