Trump, Netanyahu want a ‘controllable and not free Iran’
Iran could “easily become the hegemonic power in the region in a matter of a few years”, Professor Lorenzo Kamel, an assistant professor of global history and history in the Middle East and North Africa at the University of Turin, tells Al Jazeera.Iran has the second-largest oil reserves in the world, the third-largest gas reserves, and approximately 90 million inhabitants, which creates a very strong internal market he said.
The potential of its oil and gas industry means that Trump and Netanyahu want a “controllable Iran, and not a free Iran”, Kamel explained.
This is not the first time the US had acted to control oil production, he noted, including the events of 1953, when the CIA, along with the UK’s MI6, orchestrated the overthrow of Iran’s democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh, who had moved to nationalise Iran’s oil industry from the British-owned Anglo-Iranian Oil Company.

They passively support it.
Their priorities are a wage coming in, and supporting families. For very many, the priorities are induced through the media’s (and by extension, their peers’) “body fascism”: constant judging of appearance, “coolness” and sexual “success” or failure. Hence, many in the hi-tech countries are coerced into navel-gazing neurosis. As, for most, the psychological upheavals of youth give way to the resignation of “maturity”, the tired majority, without any background in learning (apart from state/business outlets and agencies), passively believe whatever they get from newspapers and tv news, mouthpieces for the national bourgeoisie and its state. They consider anything at odds to be youthful folly or the treasonous obsessions of unruly types and odd-bods (including us).
By comparison, ACTIVE support is more minimal, except when war breaks out – which is when one is “trampled by the boots of former pacifists in their rush to enlist”, as some wit said of the two previous world wars.
Trump might give order this weekend, now that business has closed for the week. He might use a tactical nuke.
We know what Chernobyl did. This will be much worse.And, even if this doesn’t trigger a world war (Russia and China cannot afford to have a US puppet in Tehran!), what of the ecological fall-out, even if a nuke isn’t used, but only a few MOPs, on a nuclear enrichment centre, let alone if it is?

The BNP was against the Iraq wars.
But of course, they are all promoting anti-migrant bigotry, even as the world stands on the brink of massive destruction!
We do not cheer the mass murder of workers in wars, and the same is the case here.
Whether it’s Tel Aviv or Tehran, cheering is obscene.
Even more obscene than that are the workers doing the will of the rival gangs of capitalists, acting under orders as automata and unleashing death on each other upon command.
As Wilhelm Reich said of soldiers, “Where is their will to resist?” The power to resist and to mutiny exists, but lies in abeyance. It has come to the fore now and then in history, but not enough.
The workers are 99% of the world’s population, passively letting capitalism destroy our beautiful world.
