In the days of Chaplin workers knew they were workers. They may have sheepishly followed warmongers and idolised monarchs, but they knew they were working class.
The workers were the good guys in movies. The underdog was championed.
Now, the underdog is a criminal whom the heroic cops deal with, and the regular fare for workers are “reality” shows and idolisation of the parasitic super-rich.
Now, if you tell someone they are working class, or tell a bank clerk he isn’t a banker, you’ll be shunned.

I still don’t understand why the EU member states as a whole want to continue the war and to keep giving billions to Kiev, when, in 2021, Germany especially was so excited about Nordstream and not so happy about Biden’s interference leading it to be scrapped and pushing Europe back into the Cold War. Now the EU is almost totally gung-ho with NATO.
And we see the leftist parties are the pro-war parties; the rightist ones calling for a ceasefire.
I see the “separatist” president of Taiwan is in fact reinforcing the Republic of China motif and flying the KMT sun logo, not the Taiwan independence one, for all his rhetoric against Beijing.
