ParticipantAt the moment the Sun (Sol) is on the main sequence of a stars life. It will not, as has been suggested earlier "explode". It will go on to become a Red Giant, as the star starts to increase in size, as the Gravitational/Fusion battle reaches a conclusion. Hydrogen fusion will give way to Helium fusion. When the Sun expands, it will eventually do so, so that its circumference encompasses the orbit of the planet Earth and others as well.As Adam states, nothing that man can do will destroy the planet. What man can do, is to make the Earth uninhabitable to many lifeforms, including Mankind. As Vin states, human beings should be afraid, very afraid, of Capitalism. It is this fear that Vin states, we should use to put as part of the case for replacing Capitalism with a "Sane" alternative. One more thing. If Global climactic conditions continue their upward temperature rise, we could be in serious trouble. I refer, of course, to the deposits of Methane Hydrates (a concentrated form of Methane), massive deposits of which are contained in the Ocean Depths, where the extreme cold/pressure keeps them stable. It has been conclusively proved that the oceans are heating up. If this heat gradient reaches the Ocean Depths and impacts adversely upon the Methane Hydrate deposits, we won't be looking at Global Temperature rises in single digits but roses in double digits. Not merely this but the rise wont be a gradual projected rise but a temperature rise that is quick and dramatic. In this instance, the chances of scientific amelioration of the consequences will be severely curtailed in their scope and effect, if not made irrelevant and pointless!!!

ParticipantLetter sent to all local Newspapers today; Life is more like a nightmare for the vast majority of people in the World today! I have been accused of arguing " to be one better than any one else through contradiction", I do not see this! If it had been said, that I was trying to get a message across by "showing the 'contradictions' inherent in the present system", that I could most assuredly agree with. For the contradictions are legion. Moreover, it is claimed that the present way Society is organised is "civilised" and "humane" A society that has 2 billion+ going to bed hungry every night, cannot make the claims of being civilised nor humane!A society that has hundreds of millions with no access to clean water or sanitation, cannot make the claims of being civilised nor humane!A society that allows tens of thousands of children under 5, to die every day, of starvation or directly attributable disease, cannot make the claims of being civilised nor humane! A society that can allow, less than 100 people to own more accumulated wealth than the poorest 3.5 billion, cannot be seen as sane, rational, nor indeed civilised nor humane! These obscene figures and others, are why myself and The Socialist Party are so vehement in our opposition to the present way society is organised (Capitalism) and why we are just as vehement in pressing the case for a different way of organising society. One based upon the "common ownership and democratic control of the means for producing and distributing what we, as human beings need to live". Where the Earth and everything in and on it, will belong to all people, equally, without distinction of Race, Sex, Age or any other of the false divisions that Capitalism throws up, to cloud the real issues!Where the watchword "from each according to ability, to each, according to need" will be the overriding principle! Dear Mr. ColbornWe are an organisation crowdfunded by members of the British public with thegoal of collecting information about every candidate running in the GeneralElection 2015. We hope to do this by asking a set of standardised questionsand posting the responses on our site, which is now nearing completion. To see our homepage, please click this link:http://candidatehub.co.uk/Your own constituency page can be found here:http://candidatehub.co.uk/easington/The top panel will include some brief constituency information, such as themost recent election results. Your profile will appear below the top paneland include expandable boxes for your answers. The order of the profileswill randomise on refresh, so as not to give precedence to any one party. We would like you to appear to all those interested in finding out about thecandidates in Easington. Therefore, we would be grateful if you could provide us with a photograph ofyourself, permission to publish an email address your potential constituentscan use to contact you, and any other contact details you may wish to add(including Twitter). We would also like a brief biography (perhaps a coupleof fairly short paragraphs), including, hopefully, what you believequalifies you to become the MP for Easington, past experience, your reasonfor running for the The Socialist Party of Great Britain and any otherinformation you wish to be known about yourself. Then finally, we have the following set of questions for you to answer in150 words or less (per question) so as to appeal to as many people aspossible, without creating too vast an amount of required reading:1. Obviously our goal is to strengthen the relationship between voters andcandidates, but what do you plan to do in order to make sure you remain 'intouch' with the electorate?2. What makes you the best candidate for this constituency?3a. What has the current Member achieved that you believe has beensuccessful? (The incumbent will be asked: "What would you have liked tohave done differently during your time in Parliament?")4. In your opinion, is austerity working? What should we take from thestate of the economy during this Government's tenure?5. Does (legal) immigration need more limitations or is it vital for the UK?6. Many people are concerned about the cost of living in the UK, with wageshaving failed to rise in line with the price of food, energy and rent inrecent years. How can this be corrected?7. How would you like to see the NHS change in the future in order to becomemore successful?8. What measures do you think need to be taken to decrease unemployment, particularly youth unemployment and those who have never been employed?9. Does the lack of diversity in Parliament equate to a lack ofrepresentation?10 . If an EU Referendum were to take place, how would you encourage yourconstituents to vote and why?We would very much appreciate your cooperation on this project, and hopethat you would like to achieve our goal of making information aboutParliamentary candidates as widely available as possible.Yours faithfully,Jack Goviersteve colborn
ParticipantA response sent in reply to a request from the Candidate Hub; Hi Jack, The questions you ask are, to myself and The Socialist Party valid, only if what one offers is more of the same, Capitalism. From the Health Service to youth unemployment. From Immigration to Diversity in Parliament, to the cost of living and wages. The Socialist Party stands for a complete change in Social Relations. From a Society based on "production for profit", that benefits only a tiny minority of the worlds population, the owners, to a society based on "collective ownership of the means to produce and distribute what we, as human beings need to live". Where this process will take place for the simple end result, of "production for direct human use". Where this process will be carried out by voluntary cooperation. The world and everything in and on it, will belong to mankind collectively and be used for the fulfilment of the needs of everyone. Without regards to Race, Sex, Age or any other of the "false" divisions" that Capitalism throws up.When a majority understand and want this change and most importantly, cooperate to bring it about, then and "only then", will societal change take place. No rich and poor.No have's and have not's.No classes. I hope the above makes my and The Socialist Party case clear. Steve Colborn. The Socialist Party PPCEasington Constituency.

ParticipantAs DJP so rightly states, what you ask is the "Big Question"! If we knew the answer, it would be akin to solving the riddle of the Sphinx, unravelling the Gordian Knot without the use of Alexanders sword and squaring the circle, all in one afternoon. What I would say, is that one asks people to look around at the contradictions Capitalism throws up by its very existence.Homeless people alongside empty unoccupid properties.Hungry, starving people, alongside destroyed food. Fields left fallow to keep prices high.Sick people, denied drugs because of "cost", when the ingredients of the same, cost pennies. These are just a few examples. As one lives ones life, these contradictions leap out at you.Why do you think a bus passes by almost empty, or a pensioner has 2/3 or 4 items in their shooping basket, at most. Or a mother/father shouts at their children when they ask for sweets or treats at the checkout?Does no one want the bus? Does the pensioner not want/need more food? Does/would the parent not like to treat their children? Bring a smile to their faces, see them happy? These, as with a plethora of other examples, are down to one thing! the cannot pay, cannot have world (as John Bissett used to say) we live in.Next time you venture out keep your eyes and ears open and encourage people you know to do the same!!!

ParticipantLetter published in the Shields Gazette, Thurs 5th Mar; Questions about capitalism16:42 Thursday 05 March 2015 Have your say I WOULD ask Craig Robinson (Have Your Say, Gazette, Monday March 2), a couple of questions:• You say, “There are important left-leaning reformists who increasingly recognise the two great weaknesses of the prevailing approach to poverty.Firstly, they recognise that the war on poverty has been captured by vested interests who have become detached from the noble ambitions of the early left.”Who are these ‘left leaning’ reformists? • You say, “The left has become too Marxist and insufficiently Methodist.”Where is the evidence for this bizarre claim? You talk about the ‘left’ and of ‘left leaning’ but what do you, in actual fact, mean by these generalised terms? The ‘left’ you talk of, support the capitalist system, full stop! They are to be found on the spectrum of pro capitalist parties, from right-wing fascists to left-wing red fascists. All support this system (with slight variations) unequivocally. They want to, and think they can, tinker with capitalism and have a good impact! The fact is, they cannot. Capitalism runs one way and one way only, in the interests of a tiny fraction of the world’s population: the capitalists.I myself, and the party I represent, care not one wit who is the UK government of the day, Tory, Labour, ConDem, etc etc, they are all the same.We do not want to tinker with capitalism but abolish it! Moreover, as opposed to some of these, you would no doubt label so-called lefties, we do not want, nor believe we can, lead anyone to an alternative way of organising society. This must be done by the majority themselves, in an organised, class- conscious way, with no leaders nor led!Only in this way, will it be a truly democratic change. So if your letter was aimed at my previous two letters with regards to capitalism, you are wide of the mark. If it is with regards those you label the ‘left’, have no worries, they are fully committed to capitalism, just not in the way you appear to be! ParticipantOver the last few weeks, I have refrained from commenting/posting on this Forum. During this time, it has become blatantly obvious that there is a disparity of outcomes with regard to Modersation decisions of different individuals.I would suggest, that the most pressing need, in the sphere of Moderation, is to have "consistency" of Moderation across the spectrum and across all interactions with each and every member. This, is patently not happening. Some poster's are given a "mild" rebuke, whilst others are given "full blown" warnings for, as far as I can see, are the same indiscretions. This, to my mind, is a recipe not only for further discord but for resentments building up, by and within individuals and to those individuals infringing further, out of a sense of unfairness and injustice and not always deliberately either. So to stress once again, Moderation starts from first cause, treat everyone the same and do not "target" on the one hand, nor mollycoddle on the other. These actions may not be done deliberately but as human beings, we are not always aware of the reasons we take cetain action. So a second suggestion for Moderation. Take a step back and consider if the intended Moderation decision, is being taken in a neutral and totally impartial way!!!

ParticipantIt's not, by the way "my" government ' nor for that matter, is it yours. Moreover, it hasn't won the propaganda war, it's an ongoing thing. It will end, when Capitalism ends!!! As for "conspiracy theories", they can only exist when the majority, in other words "we" haven't a clue about the world "we" live in. This is a state of affairs (being clueless), that does not pertain to Socialist Party members, whether or not "you", or others haven't a "clue", is not for me to comment, or maybe, "it is"!!!

ParticipantHi Duncan. You may be prepared to die for your cause, me, I'm more pragmatic. You see, I want to live in this new world. I've given enough to the fucker. As to the shite world we live in, making one ill! gotta agree. It makes my blood boil like a kettle in a volcanic caldera. As you say, I'm a take me as you see me, type of bloke. If someone doesn't like me, they know where they can fuck off to, as they've been told enough! I'm even considerate enough to provide a set of directions

ParticipantI really hope GCHQ are tracking me. Part of my remit as a Socialist, is to get Socialist ideas across to my fellow workers! If these guys and gals are tracking and reading my emails and correspondence, listening into my phone calls, then it saves me from hunting them out, to spread Socialist ideas, to them. One could say, they are doing our job for us! Now theres irony for you, getting a "real" education" whilst doing their bit for Queen and cuntry!

Participant"Its now 2 % of the world who are richer than over 1 BILLION of the 98 % ."It was never even "1%", let alone 2%.It was always much less than that! A fraction of 1% would have been more accurate. But lately, we have had the Capitalist press telling "us", we are in fact better off than the financiers in the City of London, (now wheres that Ferrari catalogue) what utter crap! So is this where you've gotten this 2% garbage, from your class enemies the Capitalists and their lackey press? In fact, the richest 80/90 people in the world, own more accumulated wealth than the poorest 2/3 billion combined. Now theres a figure to make your eyes water, or your sphincter tighten in rage, and rightious indignation!!!
