Hi Alb,  thanks for the reply. Fear and intimidation was something I never considered, but I see now how that is one possibility.I simply assumed, because one of their staff had seen some posters, they knew who we were and did not find Socialism to their liking, therefore the wording of his request might be useful to other party members, who find themselves in similar circumstances.

Hi Gnome, it's always good to read about Kent & Sussex group activities, may you go from strength to strength. The attitude of the Wetherspoon's manager intrigued me. Did he give a reason why he requested you to leave? ( I am assuming that justobserving someone carrying leaflets is no valid reason. The anti-discrimination laws were replaced by the Equality Act in 2010. One of the reasons it was set up, was to help busness understand their obligations, as providers of goods, services and facilities. [ quote] " People who access your goods, facilities or services are protected from direct discrimination on the basis of a "protected charactoristic."  The relovent charactoristics are; * disability (defination changed) * gender reassignation ( defination changed)* pregnancy and maternity* race – this includes ethnic or national origins, colour and nationality* religion or belief* sex, and* sexual orientation

ALB, I just can't believe what they have done to, " No Man's Land," This was the war to end all wars, was it not and the final verse just sums up nicely, the futility, the horror, the loss and waste of life and what is more, it is still going on today. Perhaps at every opportunity, we will tell the people what has been omitted.

The Art of Gothic is showing on B.B.C.4 tonight, at 10.30pm. Don't know if it is a repeat, or a new episode.

The Sixth Commandment states, "You shall not murder."In 2002, American Army Major, Peter Kilner, submitted an essay to" Military Review," entitled, " The Pentagon's Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Denial."A devout catholic, when, as a young Airborne Captain, preparing to deploy to Haiti, he asked the Army Chaplain, what justified the killing he might do? The Chaplain replied, " of course it's the right thing to do, wer'e soldiers. The President told us to do it. That makes it right."In his essay, Major Kilner wrote, " soldiers who kill reflexively in combat, will likely, one day reconsider their actions reflectively. If they are unable to justify to themselves why they killed another human being, they will likely and understandably suffer enormous guilt, that could balloon into post-traumatic stress disorder. Top Brass who ignored the issue, were, " treating their soldiers as commodities, not as persons. 20% of american combat troops develope P.T.S.D. A British Army Chapllain, when confronted by young inquiring minds who ask, " How come you talk to us about God, when we have to go out and kill?" said, If anyone thinks there is an easy answer to that one

good luck !  All I could was to help the troops to see that the country had the right to both rule and defend itself and that the Christian had a moral obligation to be involved in both." The Second Vatican Council states, ( gaudium et spes, No 79 ) " Those who are pledged to the service of their country, as members of it's armed forces, should regard  themselves as agents of security and freedom, on behalf of their people. As long as they fulfill the roll properly, they are making a genuine contribution to the establishment of peace."

Never been a fan of Russell Brand. He seemed to me to be a drugged up plonker, so I was somewhat surprised, when I heard him talking and relating to working class issues. I was equally delighted to see he has a following of millions. He is, probibly by his notoriety and not by his witt, recieving plenty of publicity from the press. But the British Press is fickle and that which they build up, they eventually pull down.  Brand has opened the ears of millions, we have to somehow, make those ears hear our message.

What's behind this? How about, at some time, the Tories will have to demonstrate to their less than faithful supporters that they can be more ruthless than U.K.I.P. or the heamorrhaging of votes could prove fatal.

I thought they were one and the same.  Of course you mean non-members, who at some point , may well apply to join the party, which is partly the reason for this Forum being set up.

In #4 near the end of the you tube video, a young woman said "…….. I've never voted…….. I'm never going to vote, ever…… It's all fixed………. doesn't matter who you vote for……"  I recon that's a que for action.

While addressing the U.N. conference this week, on the group known as I.S., President Obama said, " No god condones this terror."Well I guess Obama's script writer was no biblical scholarLet's take a look at;        Exodus 12: 29-30           At midnight the Lord struck down all of the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of the                                                                              Pharoah, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner who was in the                                                                               dungeon. Or,                            Chronicles 21: 14-15            So the Lord sent a plague on Isreal and 70,000 men of Isreal fell dead. And God sent                                                                              an Angel to destroy Jerusalem Perhaps;                   1 Samuel: 14: 12-13            " Put to death men, women, children and infants." Even;                         Isaiah 13: 15-16                   (a prophecy against Babylon) All who are caught will fall by the sword. Their infants                                                                               will be dashed to pieces before their eyes. Their houses will be looted and their                                                                               wives ravished What about;             Ezekiel 9: 5-6                         Kill without showing compassion, slaughter old men, young men and maidens,                                                                                women and children And;                         Deuteronomy 20: 16-17          However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an                                                                                 inheritance, do not leave anything alive that breathes The list goes on, but you should have the message by now. The god of the bible is no god of love. He is a war god. All military nationshad and still have a god of war.

Materialists hold that every thing and event in the universe is physical in every respect. About the above statement, can anyone answer the following question without directing me to some cranky professor's long-winded,cryptic confusion.                                                               Is a thought material ?

IN july 2013, tory peer, lord Howell ( george Osborne's father-in-law ) said that there are large uninhabited areas in the North East., wherethere's plenty of room for fracking. He is at it again. In May, in the Journal of Energy Security, he is quoted as saying: "Every time ministers claim fracking must start everywhere and not just in selected remote (derelict) areas, they lose thousands of tory votes. In the N.E., the N.W. and all the places where the industrial revolution has left the worst industrial scars, they do have such areas. They have the gas and they do have the local wish to see fracking investment – to upgrade old coal mining areas, for example."  When I read words like that, the old rage rumbles.I thought it had died, along with the last pit, when our communities slipped with barely a whimper, into a black decline. Slowly, too slow for my liking, hope sprang anew. Job prospects improved, time and tides cleaned our scared beaches. The National Trust took our coastline and declared it an " area of special scientific interest," New housing projects popped up like mushrooms and new clean industrial estates were strategicly placed. The old has given way to the new.Tourists are coming to Seaham, bringing welcome revenue.                                               And this 78 yr. old tory ( adjectives and adverbs deliberately omited) person has the temerity                                              to say we have the local wish to see fracking investment. WE certainly do NOT want fracking and all the filth and baggage that goes with it.                ,    I

Hi Steve, I have been trawling through Durham County Council web site, to see what is being said about fracking, but I have drawn a blank. But when your post #50 mentioned; "that shale gas exploration and extraction will not be allowed in areas of outstanding natural beauty,"I recall reading ( and it might have been on the green party site) that planning permission for the dumping of toxic waste on the NorthYorkshire moors has been relaxed. I wonder why?
