The roles of other people will be one of relative non-involvement except within certain broad parameters. WHO can be thought of the medical workers' world committee. Forming its foundations are a whole lot of other medical and health associations, most i am not likely to ever heard of, much less vote for, and it will be they who will be selecting and forwarding delegates to the various offices of WHO. My direct democracy is going to be a voice in my local health clinic, my local hospital, my local public health department, my local occupational health and safety committee. … Those who will be engaged with it, won't be every Tom Dick and Harry. Robbo is right….each and every one of us is not fully qualified to decide on technical and scientific aspects. I'm not an epidemiologist so as in the case of AIDS/HIV and how to tackle it, i take note of what one of those advises and acts upon it if it concurs with other experts in related fields…I'm the last resort, not the first resource, when it comes to making things happen, if you get my meaning.
Or are we the masochists? Are we hitting our head against a brick wall of fellow workers who are determined not to learn or heed lessons from the past.

As Marx said , communist disdain from hiding their politics…We don't pretend to be anything other than what we are – workers with a political/class/socialist consciousness in advance of many of our fellow workers. That is the reality…and a truth…
The situation was eventually dealt with and although some may have been inconvenienced, it wasn't a crisis as if we had been infected by a virus or whatever. A week or so ago a similar (albeit less numerous, perhaps a dozen or so posts) spam attack was dealt with but for many on this list i doubt they were aware of it.Are you seriously suggesting that we impose a compulsory watch system upon the moderators where even when we are on-line engaged in other party activity we are obliged to continuously monitor the list?For all the occasions that we suffer a spam attack, i think we are well-capable of tackling them…but perhaps not as speedily as some would have it.
I hope they have watched it advance of the EC meeting so as not to take up valuable time viewing it during the meeting and instead have their positions ready to exchange with other members and reach a decision.
