Beside the United States, the 18 countries singled out include Bahrain, Belarus, Brazil, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary, Iraq, Libya, Mali, Nigeria, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen voted to deny a woman’s legitimate right to “bodily autonomy”—the right to self-governance over one’s own body.
The member states who deny women access to safe and legal abortion represent 1.3 billion people.
I recall in the “interests” of democracy and the “expression” of the will of the Scottish people when the first referendum on Scottish home-rule took place in 1979, there was incorporated within it the 40% condition which required 40% of the total electorate to vote “Yes” in the referendum.
The result was that 51.6% supported the proposal, (48.4% said no), but with a turnout of 64%, this represented only 32.9% of the registered electorate. So no home rule.
Many critics said because of the inaccuracy of the electoral register, it meant the dead “voted” no.
Did you not see the list of ‘suspect” logos? SPEW, AWL, IWW, SOLFED, ACG, SWP etc etc. Ours isn’t shown. A telling omission.
But i’m surprised. I thought most members would be delighted that we aren’t being lumped with the left-wing.
Could it simply be because we contest elections and are a registered political party? I doubt PC Plod has taken the time to directly investigate our open democratic approach to organisation but I am sure we all have stories of that stranger with the suspicious look in the eyes at a meeting.
But the most damning thing is how easy it is the State to label opposition as a “terrorist” organisation and even when they don’t attach such label to those who aren’t it is “guilt by association” into a them and us polarisation… “respectable” politics and “disreputable” types. Very reminiscent of the “enemy within” when trade unions were classed as subversive and threat to national security. So we have been here before….so many times before

I can recall shortly after the referendum a TV documentary taking an unemployed worker in one of the most run-down regions of Wales that voted overwhelming for Brexit on a tour of his home town, showing him all the new developments and new infrastructure which was being funded by the EU, each with the sign that said so.
He had not a clue about this EU investment and had only seen the Brexit headlines of the money the UK had to pay the EU.
If Brexiteer voters believe that central government will now fully replace that cash, they are living in Cloud Cuckoo Land. They’ll need reminding, of course.

The Iranians must be very devious indeed to accept culpability for the dastardly deed of the Americans so to avoid a full blown war and then will have to collaborate in what will be a complicate cover-up with Ukraine and all the governments of whose nationals were killed.

I find that those who believe in the population crisis are in as much denial as climate denialists. They simply reject the figures on the declining fertility rates and fail to understand that there exists a time lag which will eventually rectify itself and the population begin to decline.
Offering any socialist solutions to the social ills associated with urban over-crowding, mis-use and mis-distribution and allocation of resources and migration…they too prove an athema. They treat carrying capacity (or carbon footprints) as true reflections of reality
