The news is dire. States like Idaho and Montana are allowing for the brutal hunt of wolves, using cruel methods that are illegal in other states. This could disrupt the already vulnerable wolf population in the states.
Idaho has gone so far as to allow private contractors — hired by the state itself — to kill wolves. It even legalized the unlimited slaughter of wolves, subjecting them to chases using hounds, ATV, and snowmobiles — sometimes just to be run over and die in agony.
Grizzly bears are an iconic symbol of North American wilderness once roaming freely across most of the western U.S., from the high plains to the Pacific coast. But now, after much of the native grizzly population has been ELIMINATED, they can only be found in isolated areas, mostly in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
Meanwhile, as the few remaining bears struggle to survive, these three states bordering Yellowstone National Park are looking to TEAR DOWN grizzly bear protections — giving ruthless trophy hunters free rein to BRUTALIZE these treasured animals without mercy. If that happens, this threatened species could go completely EXTINCT.
“In Montana, as much as 90% of the state’s wolf population is at risk due to a lack of hunting restrictions. In Wisconsin, a spring hunt resulted in double the allowed quota of wolf pups to be murdered.” Friends of the Earth.
Sleeping mothers with their pups are being slaughtered in their dens.

Protected fur seals are dying because of underwater bombs called seal crackers being detonated by industrial salmon producers in Tasmania, Australia.
Seal crackers are designed to emit piercing noises and flashes of light that reverberate through the ocean.
But they don’t just scare seals: they also cause bone injuries, soft tissue burns, prolapsed eye balls and in some cases death, often from blunt force trauma
They would prepare to die in the sense of panic, and they would accept it because “there is nothing we can do.”
Likewise with global warming. Everyone’s talking about “adjusting” and “coping” with it – as in “there’s nothing we can do.”
How many times are households flooded out, and they just “cope”, because “there’s nothing we can do.”
The poorest and the destitute among them are also the most patriotic and reactionary.
I think it’s naive to think workers here will turn against the war, or rise because of hardships. They wouldn’t even rise if told to prepare to die from atomic war.
