KeymasterIn the only handwritten version of the booklet that has survived the years, the first lines are written by her.
That’s the first time I knew that Jenny contributed to the CM.
But I would have said Marx married above himself, not his equal, being that Jenny was a member of the aristocracy.

KeymasterBiden will soon formally announce a plan to make half of the $7 billion available to pay off legal claims by those who lost families members on 9/11 while the other half would be set aside for humanitarian assistance for the Afghan people.
Critics were quick to denounce the move as cruel, given that the Afghan people themselves had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks that took place over two decades ago — and that those living in one of the poorest nations in the world should not be punished for the criminal acts of a small group of individuals, most of them from Saudi Arabia and elsewhere.

KeymasterWho remembers Scott Ritter who exposed the US/UK WMD lies?
Russia’s goal is not to destroy Ukraine—this could be accomplished at any time. Rather, the goal of Russia is to destroy NATO by exposing its impotence, writes Scott Ritter…It may take years for NATO to go away, but let no one be fooled by what is happening—NATO is finished as an alliance.

KeymasterThe current military tensions involving Russia and China exposes that the “Cold War” was never about ideology or rival economic systems.
Russia and China are fully incorporated into the world capitalist order yet the economic and political expansionism that is at the root of the need to accumulate capital, capture markets, secure natural resources and protect trade routes remains the underlying reason for war and preparations for war.
Of course, we won’t find intellectuals and media correcting their mistaken view of history.
Whatever happened to that much touted “peace dividend”?

Hype?
the Russian foreign ministry accused Western countries of spreading false information with help from the media, in order to distract attention from their own aggressive actions.

KeymasterHow time changes perception
A new Pew survey found that the share of Americans who believe Donald Trump was largely responsible for the violence of Jan. 6, 2021, has declined by nearly 10 percent over the past year, while the percentage of people who think he bears no responsibility has increased by almost as much.
Christian nationalist support for Jan. 6 rioters has doubled in the past year, while support for prosecuting those rioters has declined by 20 percent.
The Freedom from Religion Foundation and the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty released a new report that helps explain that shift.
That this ideology is powerfully connected to a reinterpretation of these events” in a way that could become “a powerful motivator for future potential violence.”
To call those fringe ideas is misleading: Surveys repeatedly find that close to half of the country supports the idea of fusing Christianity and civic life.

KeymasterInsulate Britain call by architects
The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has calculated that insulation, double- or triple-glazing and gas boiler replacement in 3.3m interwar homes that sprawl around England’s towns and cities could cut the country’s carbon emissions by 4%, helping it towards the net zero target by 2050.
The professional body is calling for a national programme and has costed the works at up to £38bn, which far exceeds current government green homes subsidies. But it believes the works could prove cheaper because the repetitive designs of the terraced and semi-detached homes should allow for economies of scale in a mass rollout. It also foresees savings of more than £500 a year in energy bills in many cases.
