” Would you like to examine Matthew Henry’s specific commentary on Elijah and the prophets of Baal, or look into how he compares Baal worship to Molech?”

I believe it. It was reported by the Romans about Carthage, and the Carthaginians were Phoenicians, and Phoenicia was what is now Lebanon.

Bizarre though, don’t you think? Children are a society’s future.

There were three floods in three different places, but they were not universal; they were local, rivers overflowing that destroyed several civilisations, but it is not the same narrative as Genesis 6-9.

They were produced by climatic changes, but they were not produced by a god’s punishment, and they were transmitted by different peoples that survived those floods

The Jews learned about those floods when they were exiled to Babylon, and they took those narratives and applied them to their own world and to their own god, but merged them into one flood, and the most impressive one was the last flood because it was the one that produced more destruction

Those floods took place before they were written in the Bible; therefore, the Noah flood did not occur as mentioned in the Bible. Ironically, it was written to say that Yahev is a god of promise and a god of morality; now we can see a materialist and earthly event transformed into a religious event

The Tigris and Euphrates area was always flooding and the farmers there are well used to this. They of course take their goats and other livestock with them on their boats, from which the Ark legend grew.

However, ritual animal sacrifice persisted in some regional Iranian traditions well into the Islamic era before largely fading out.”

Aren’t goats still sacrificed in Islam for Eid?

That is not the issue, and the Roman and Matthew Henry are not the issue either because he tried to cover it up.

The main issue is the prophet Jeremiah, who did indicate that the jews were sacrificing their children for Baal, and Yahweh punished them; again,

We come back to the issue of the gods’ defeat of that epoch: the pagan gods of the north defeated the god of the South; peoples had rejected Yahoe as they did in Sinai when Moses was on the mountain, and he killed thousands of people as a punishment.

Yahaev spent all the Biblical narratives punishing his followers to avoid defeat

It is the same as in Exodus 11-29, when all the firstborn of Egypt were killed, but that event never took place. Some historians believe that a similar event took place in another region, but there was no killing. It is only a myth because the Exodus never took place

Human sacrifice by the Inkas was a deeply sacred, highly regulated state ritual known as Capacocha (or Qhapaq Hucha), which primarily involved the offering of children to local and imperial deities.

Unlike the large-scale public executions practised by the Aztecs, Inka sacrifices were performed selectively to ensure cosmic balance, appease the gods during crises, and consolidate political control over a rapidly expanding empire.

The Inkas used human sacrifice as a dual tool for spiritual devotion and imperial dominance:

Sacrifices were triggered by major disruptions like environmental disasters (volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, droughts), epidemics, or the death of an Inka Emperor.

Offerings were made to the Sun God (Inti) and mountain deities (Apus) to secure successful harvests, steady rain, and general fertility.

The state required local conquered chiefs to provide their own children for sacrifice.

This bound peripheral regions to the capital of Cusco, transforming the victims into eternal deities that legitimised Inka rule over subject populations.

The Inkas selected physically unblemished boys and girls, typically between the ages of 4 and 14, valued for their purity.

Older girls, such as the 13-year-old Llullaillaco Maiden, were chosen from the Acllahuasi (House of Chosen Women).
They were raised as priestesses and royal wives before some were selected for sacrifice.

Families viewed selection as an extraordinary honour rather than a punishment, often elevating the social and political status of the child’s family.

In the year leading up to their death, victims’ diets changed drastically to include elite foods like maize and meat.

Analysis of mummy hair suggests victims heavily consumed intoxicating coca leaves and chicha (maize alcohol) to induce altered states and sedate them during the gruelling mountain ascents

The gods of the Inca and the Aztecs were different to the monotheistic god of the Jews; they were connected to nature and political dominance or to their mode of production.

The Spaniard eliminted those religious practices, but they imposed catholicism and whoever resisted was killed and burned alive.

They imposed slavery and working in the mines to extract gold and silver, and many used coca leaves to work harder and longer hours and thousands of them died.

I read that the Aztecs nearly captured Cortes at one point. I wish they had done so.

Among some Celtic peoples a king would be chosen to rule for a year and then be killed and eaten. (Should be implemented now😀). He would be eaten raw by the priestesses.

Cortes was able to win the battle because there was class division among the natives, and he used that to gain the support of some of them. Similarly, in the USA, some natives fought along with the English and the French against the American colonisers. The black slaves fought along with the Yankees during the Civil War

The Scottish Highlanders’ clan feuds were also exploited by the British government and by the Jacobites in the same way as the native American Iroquois tribes.

Those why buy cannabis and other drugs from illegal sources in S. America don’t realise they are funding animal sacrifice. The smugglers are intensely superstitious and sacrifice animals to “St. Death” to ask for the success of their enterprises.

A few years ago, on the US/Mexican border, they kidnapped a young US man, took him into Mexico and sacrificed him to St. Death, the skull-faced patron saint of cannabis smugglers (to whom marijuana is burnt as incense). There was later a big shooting battle between police and smugglers. At the smugglers’ hideout were found the remains of bloody animal sacrifices and also the bones of the youth.

” The Real Case: The NarcosatanistsThe Victim: Mark Kilroy, a 21-year-old University of Texas student, was abducted during Spring Break in Matamoros, Mexico. The Cult: The drug-trafficking ring was led by Adolfo Constanzo, who practiced a blend of Palo Mayombe and black magic, rather than the folk saint Santa Muerte (which rose to widespread prominence later in the 1990s and 2000s).The Belief: Constanzo convinced his smuggler followers that human sacrifices and macabre rituals would grant them supernatural invisibility and protection from police bullets. The Raid and Discovery: Police stumbled upon the cult’s remote ranch (Rancho Santa Elena) more or less by accident after a routine drug checkpoint chase. On the property, officers uncovered the remains of 15 people, including Mark Kilroy, alongside signs of brutal ritual mutilation and animal sacrifices.Resolution of the CultThe End of Constanzo: Cornered by police in a Mexico City apartment building weeks later, Constanzo ordered a follower to shoot him and another associate dead to avoid capture. The Convictions: Surviving members, including co-leader Sara Aldrete (dubbed “The Godmother”), were captured and later sentenced to lengthy prison terms.”

The expansion of Christian fundamentalism has now, I see from new books and internet videos, at last sparked an academic (at least) exposure of the Jesus myth and of the biblical mythology in general.

All Abrahamic religions are bloody and violent; the so-called crucifixion of Jesus is a bloody action. Jehovah love killing and revenge; the Old Testament is full of criminal actions. The so-called devil, compared to Jehovah, is a saint

The Haitian voodoo religion and Cuban Santeria sacrifice chickens and goats for rituals; it is syncretism, which is a combination of African and catholic rituals.

This society, despite all the technological advancement, is still backward and reactionary and recalcitrant nationalism is spreading all over;d the first promoters of nationalism are the Leninists and the left-wingers; there is disregard for sciences, literature, arts and reading; they want libraries to be closed to save what they call taxpayers’ money. Why do they want to burn books when nobody is reading them? They are just collecting dust in the bookshelves

People are experiencing a profound ideological retrogression, and many people do not care any more about caring for other human beings,

They inherited those rituals from the Incas and the Aztecs who sacrificed animals for agriculture, prosperity and for rain

You an see the case of the US christians nationalists, they do not care if children are killed, pregnants women in emigration jails dying, they just care about the so called homeland which does not belong to them, they do not have a job, they live in poverty, they do not have medical insurance and they supported the measures to reverse them and they support their o ers, they love the capitalist class, they do not care if peoples in others countries are bombarded and killed, it is all bread and circusses like the Roman empire.
