Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro wants to open 1.17 million square kilometers of indigenous territories in the Brazilian Amazon – an area nearly five times the size of the UK or three times the size of California – for mining and hydropower projects.
20,000 illegal prospectors have already invaded the indigenous Yanomami lands, while 442 gold mines can be found on Munduruku lands. The miners destroy ecosystems and pollute rivers with mercury, and bring with them a host of other ills – alcohol, drugs, prostitution, crime and disease.
Indigenous territories are crucial for people and the environment: With their sustainable way of life, indigenous people preserve the rainforests better than government-managed protected areas, as the United Nations has confirmed.They keep playing with the idea of a “limited” nuclear war they imagine they could survive. But even an exchange in one area (say, India vs Pakistan, or just Europe) would cause a global nuclear winter.
It’s looking ever more likely.
Do the mass murderers really think they’ll be ok down in their bunkers, and what about their wealth, with all us proles dead and gone? How many of us do they propose taking underground with them, as their workers? And where will the resources be?
Russia keeps repeating threats of nuclear war and WW3. The US does not.
Isn’t this because Russia has nothing else to threaten with?

If NATO does push toward a Ukrainian victory, then surely Putin will lose his guarantee that Ukraine won’t join NATO?

Mind you, the image of Nazis setting up and restoring statues of Lenin does seem rather apt as well as amusing, if Putin wasn’t blasting the lives of workers on both sides.
