ParticipantThey are some nice church’s here too. I know this because 2
Russian agents said to be at the centre of the Salisbury nerve agent attack said they visited the “wonderful” English city
as tourists to see its cathedral, “famous for its 123-metre spire.” You learn something new every day.The Roman Catholic Church found Galileo guilty of heresy. For his ‘belief’ that the Earth rotated around the Sun. That the Earth was not immovable centre of the universe. The Roman Catholic Church: “We order that by a public edict the book of Dialogues of Galileo Galilei be prohibited.”
If the Roman Catholic Church behaves like this in its past, what about its other “scriptures” today? Scriptures on abortion, contraception, single mothers, Heaven and hell? The devil. What it is that constitutes ’sin.’ I was taught god was everywhere, a bit like CCTV is everywhere. I don’t accept there’s an after life. I don’t accept god moves in mysterious ways. Just as I don’t believe in fairies at the bottom of the garden.
I don’t believe everything in gods work, either. Religion is about getting into the heads of young impressionable minds.
Why not let children grow up, then they can choose whether to be god worshippers or not?
The good news is people are less interested in religion now than ever.

ParticipantMembership is open to all. Those who want to become a member must pass our entrance test.
Armed forces personnel are rejected, as are people who hold religious beliefs, or reformist ideas.
Nobody has stated anybody holds religious views. I have never attacked anyone who holds religious beliefs. Only putting what I believe is the party case….we oppose war and those who support it claiming to be against killing, as this is deemed as a ‘sin.’
I find religion tedious, similar to what was mentioned above. My main criticism of religion is that it has held back all of humanity in the spheres of science. We urge fellow workers to get off their knees.
I have never seen, heard a party member attack someone who holds religious views. Let me make this clear.

ParticipantYou are missing the point entirely
I am none the wiser now, than when you started really. With your last remark, not sure it really matters to be honest. If you’re a socialist that’s what counts. My neighbour told me he is into ornithology? At first I was like ffs, then I was worried it was something strange? I was relieved that he likes birds the feather variety. He’s a photographer, and does arty things around birds, he does exhibitions where he sells his work.
I didn’t exactly waste my time entirely, as I have been on Twitter, liking the party tweets and making a few tweets in reply.james19
ParticipantI knew you’d say that.
Let’s take thou shalt not kill. One of the 10 Commandments. This doesn’t stop the church from blessing warships, war planes, nuclear submarines or bombs. When fellow workers around the world are blown to bits by British bombs, at least god blessed them. When the Nazis bombed England no doubt their bombs were also blessed by god, so that’s alright then.
Thou shall not steal. Unless you’re a capitalist who fills up thy churches coffers.
A justification for people staving to death in excruciating agony, is that it’s the work of god.
Someone who has cancer, who is suffering in unimaginable pain, that is also the work of god.
But god is all seeing and healing?-

ParticipantThomas More: we can love church music.
Not in a church. But some Gospel, dance music that is.

ParticipantEngels in his book, The Conditions of the Working class in England written in 1845.
Religion played a big part in the wretched existence of the working class. Working 16 hours a day, 6 days a week. With one day off, gods day, Sunday. When they would wear their best clothes for church. When in church they were promised from the pulpit a better afterlife.

ParticipantA draft law is before the Danish parliament which will require all sermons to be translated and submitted to the state. It is ostensibly to identify radical Islamist imams in the mosques
—-Curiously, the C of E (and others religious leaders) would prefer the stance taken by China? I don’t hear the C of E (or other religious denominations)speaking out against China in locking up 1.5 million Uighurs in prison camps?

ParticipantFootball fans might not be able to go and watch teams play in the grounds. But nothing changes it would seem. Especially when a team lose.
Man Utd ‘disgusted’ at racial abuse sent to Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial
….We utterly condemn it and it is encouraging to see other fans condemn this on social media also…..Haven’t seen anything of the sort, annoyingly a Manchester United fan makes a post saying “abuse is endemic in society”…..clearly moving the goalposts (pun intended) no criticism of his own fans racist (he avoids actually saying racist) behaviour last night, whatsoever. Just lumps all clubs together and said this: “all clubs have a racist element”. Yet not a shred of evidence to back up his claims. A case of two wrongs don’t make a right then!

Participant‘Stansted 15’ win appeal against conviction for deportation flight protest
Protesters who broke into Stansted Airport to stop a plane deporting people to Africa have won an appeal against their convictions.
The Lord Chief Justice said they “should not have been prosecuted for the extremely serious offence”.
Maybe this Law was intended for terrorists who highjack a plane?
