I like to feel a book in my hands. I have been sending all my books to a bookbinding company, and they look beautiful in different colours. We were told to love our books, magazines and newspapers, and our books always carry paper covers to conserve them. We had occasional inspections of our textbooks . Now there is propaganda made by the governments to hate newspapers and journalists and to hate scientific books; religious fundamentalism is taking over our society; it is like a regression
I have a Kindle, but I only use it on rare occasions. All my books have three or four markers made out of ribbons of different colours. I am an atheist, but I have Bibles from different translations and different versions, atheist read more about the bible than theists. I grew up in a small town, but the main entertainment of the young people was the town library. Long-distance education is going to be the future of pedagogy, and many universities are implementing that system
With bookshops long gone, bar one, where I am, there is no joy for me in going to town. My childhood and youth was thrilled by bookshops, especially old used book shops, where one could browse for as long as one wanted.
I will never have an e-reader.
Children today do not know the joy I had in books, and comics. Every Saturday my dad and I would go browsing the bookshops. I would also get an educational children’s magazine called World of Wonder, and also a funny comic. World of Wonder taught me the basics of history, my favourite subject, and I still have the collection. It came with wall charts too on exploration, science and ancient civilisations.
History and geography are now specialist subjects. They used to be basic.
Every child in school received an atlas. Today people travel more, but many cannot point on a map to where they’ve been. Many have no geographical awareness, and no chronological awareness of history.My first Almamater was surrounded by bookstores, and now it is surrounded by evangelical churches, pubs and porn shops.
All radios that used to broadcast classical and instrumental music are gone.
Music and good movie stores are gone too.
Buenos Aires and Mexico DF are two of the few cities that have many bookstores.
Bookbinding used to be an art in many towns, and now it is almost gone; old books are thrown away instead of being recovered

Forums like this do not exist anymore; they join internet media to publish photos, pornography, craps, and to worship leaders.People who do not even read comic books have an opinion on everything.
Journalists must be part of the crowd; otherwise they would be laid off. Real journalism is gone, and journalists do not do any research, and they do not read books; it is just a profession to make money.
This world is going backwards; it is a bizarre world.
Young people do not find any future in this society, and they are killing themselves; suicides among youngsters are increasing

In Japan, they are hiring or renting people to become companions, friends or girlfriends for funerals and weddings. People do not have time for sex, and that is the reason why it is becoming a society of elderly people

There is a marked contrast between my granddaughter and grandson. She got a phone when she was eleven and has been addicted to it ever since. I tell her off for picking it up during a conversation or at meal times. She sulks. There again, she loves dancing and is good at it. You can’t use your phone when you’re in the middle of a dance routine.
He, on the other hand, has had a phone for nearly as long but doesn’t care about it much. And he has a wide interest in – tada – reading real books! So all is not lost.
That’s good.
When acquaintances stayed with me they would urge me to put on one of my favourite classic films. They would say they can’t wait.
So we would sit down, I’d put the film on, and immediately out would come their phones. They played silly zombie-hunt games on them until the end credits of the film came up. Then they’d say, “Oh crap! We missed it!”Some people live in the same house, and even sit in the same room, in silence, texting each other.
