I saw this on FB. One of my family members liked. All good I thought, he’s reposted/liked stuff which is a tad racist unfortunately.🙁

This meme sums it up really.

I don’t agree one bit with as soon as we mention Socialism or Marx it turns young people off? The OP, is expressing a personal opinion. There’s no  evidence to back it up.
Being a socialist, admittedly in the Labour Party is something most young people see as a good thing. Many young people are attracted to the SWP and other left wing groups claiming to be socialist.
Was it the spilt of a split of CPGB who’s magazine Living Marxism (which was stocked in WHSmith incidentally. Are WHSmith still going? I personally thought wasn’t a  put off in anyway, but a positive thing. I had no real idea about Marx at the time, and was intrigued by it. I didn’t actually read it for some reason, unbeknown to me…….probably because I was an avid reader of the Socialist in Socialist Standard which wasn’t a turn off. I did however, have a little worry when the Socialist Standard was referred to as the SS…..it still does, but this has more to do with the SS and Nazism?
Quoting Marx, for example, “those who produce the wealth should own it, it’s fairer”, how is that something that is going to turn young people off or anybody else for that matter?
Another  example; “Marx never signed the death warrant for anyone” which is a rebuttal to those who say Marxism killed 100m, usually posted on the Socialist Party Twitter feed.
The Party must take a great deal of credit for not only talking about Marx, after all we’re a Marxist party, but for being honest and open and not shying away from Marx at all, from fellow workers.

    Thanks for the information.

For my part, I spend the best part of my time and effort on Twitter. Not seen much about Bolivia on there?
As l said, when we mention Socialism, we get the usual out pouring of Venezuela is Socialist tweets. Unfortunately, our Twitter account moderator and myself are having to reply .in the adjective. And so it persists.
    This…..

14m face starvation in Yemen. The worlds worst humanitarian crisis in 100 years. Says the UN

65,000 children have died from malnutrition and starvation.

You have myopia or you’re clueless, and have been brainwashed. The US government and its paymasters, $tn  oil corporations, are not interested in the welfare of Yemenis……Yemen doesn’t have oil. Venezuela has the worlds largest oil reserves. The US government and its capitalist paymasters are not in the slightest bit interested in the plight of Venezuelans……only using it to make capital out of it….. for the purposes of grabbing its natural resources, to benefit their stockholders.

Firstly we’re not the left, let alone part of  the “splintered left”.

The working class, being the revolutionary class, the capitalists have had their revolution. We are manifestly the revolutionary movement, for Socialism. This  differentiates us from all other parties, we are unquestionably unique  on the political front.

Our role is to make socialists, we don’t condemn fellow workers as you put it? We seek to educate them, about the urgent need for socialism.

We expose those and attack the left or right wings of capitalism, who seek to hold back Socialism. There lies the difference. If you want us to hold out our hand of friendship to such  scoundrels, you are on a very slippery slope. In the end we are respected for being honest.

No. What is it that you don’t understand? At best reforms are a waste of time and effort, often not worth the paper they’re written on. Giving false hope, that you can change the slaughterhouse in the interests of workers, i.e, make capitalism a little more palatable.

At any rate reforms benefit capitalists. Again, to benefit the capitalist class, at the expense of one or more sections of  the working class.

Reformers call for the end to nuclear weapons…..and fail to understand why wars happen. Capitalism is based on competition, not cooperation. A fight to the death over natural resources, land, trade routes, everything in and on the planet. Yet workers have not gained one inch in fighting in Capitalism’s wars!

What happens with reforms is when fighting for one reform, around the corner is a far more pressing issue…..a revolving door.

Capitalism is a hydroheaded monster, loop off one head and several appear.

What happens when workers are let down fighting for reforms? They become disappointed, disillusioned, leading to apathy and angry.  We have been told by Labour Party members, if that’s socialism under Labour governments, that they want nothing to do with socialism.

We repeat it over and over, almost 115 years, the warning that capitalism has a built in mechanism for reforms.

Our position is if you oppose capitalism, its grotesque ideology, the propensity for war. You should make an effort to become a socialist.

Waste no time! Join our movement for Socialism.

everything everyone offers is reformism, hence against the SPGB principles, hence bad”

    ______

With respect. What reforms take priority? See the problem here?

Once you start making demands, reforms, Socialism ends up on the back burner.

Just to  clarify,  we support workers in regards to better wages, for example. However, we point out, that this can be a  lifetime cycle of yearly effort…..

Re the last point. We say, rightly, such reforms are futile, something now nothing never. Are not in the interests of  our class.

Nuclear weapons for example. The demand to ban them. When Capitalism’s class conflict, (not just capitalists vs workers) but Capitalists vs Capitalists erupts inevitably. Wars over trade routes, natural resources, land, sea and people to exploit. When such flair up, leading  to the use of ‘nice’ conventional weapons, the use of is consequentially devastating for fellow workers.

To add, not sure which element of the LGBT ‘community’ argues this? But the call to get the ‘L’ out of LGBT is a give away?

Hi, there was a bit of discussion on the party’s Facebook page about gays. I didn’t read  every post, as most  replies were rather lengthy.

The article by JPS, Identity politics, was interesting. Only to add, a point missed, omitted, possibly not known by the author. As the whole issue is a case of moving the goalposts. What with the advent of women’s ‘professional’ football. Championed recently by the BBC, chiefly. No pun intended.

With the advent of artificial insemination, men wouldn’t be needed….

I was thinking in the bedroom department……but no, literally!

The Party hasn’t mentioned anything (yet) about the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Stonewall Inn clash with police, or LGBTQ+ Pride march. I’m looking forward to seeing something about this in the latest edition of the Socialist Standard?

Hope people had a great time at Glastonbury. Not much of a fan myself musically speaking. I replied to David Lammy Labour MP for Tottenham on Twitter. Regarding headliner @stomzy speaking out against injustice to young black kids being criminalised in a biased and disproportionate justice system.

Very pleased to hear the result of the EU South Eastern Region election campaign. Well done to everyone who gave their time and effort. 😁 👍

    Dave, thanks. 👍 Much appreciated.

As I quipped back at them, any publicity is better than being ignored. Which these attention seeking people want for themselves.

I stuck the boot in, metaphorically speaking, telling them to keep obsessing about the SPGB. 😁
