My suspicion when I first scanned this post was it was an attempt by your Labour Party (the people in power behind it actually) to co-opt and diverting people's anger at being sold out and desire for real democracy and representation by giving them a false substitute. My suspicion was based on nothing other than it would be a stragegic move and done before. I still think that's what that party is about. What do you all think?

"Everybody would have the same shared access to the world's resources (but, of course, that's not to say they would all be the same or have or want the same – far from it).So think about your own statement – would a socialist society elect to end this state of affairs? If so, why, and what would they replace it with? And this is one of the crucial issues and why I and many others thinks some kind of market would develop. Not capitalism, necessarily, but a market. There was trade long before exploitation. I didn't  get a satisfactory answer yet about how socialism will address me wanting a different kind of house, a friend wanting chocolate with lavender. How does it not become dicatated what you can and can't have? I sculpt. What if 1000 people want my sculptures? How do we decide distribution? Or pick your own example, hopefully you get the point.

Just addressing the noun part how about 'adult humans'.  If socialism's established, there won't be a further distinction. But to be catty, or maybe I'm being a troll, tho not intentionally, I did not necessarily mean a socialist democracy.

Disclaimer or warning, I'm just a lurker not a member, but a supporter of about 80% of your princilples/platform/ideas whatever. To un-derail the thread, a couple points: I found parts of the book "The Feeling Good Handbook" on communication and disagreement also very helpful. Also, this is sexist, but true. if you can integrate more women into posting here, we are better at conflict resolution, compromise, etc.The mechanics of the Yahoo groups forum suck. If you can get a good bulletin board program like the one used by http://www.freeratio.org/  which I think is free, and get more posters (still separating SPGB from international if you want), I think that would help.Yes, I would think you have different processes and locations for resolution of specific cases than here?I personally try to keep in mind and separate when I don't respect and idea (like theism) from disrespecting a person.Feelings are usually valid, ideas may not be.

I think Orwell and Huxley were both mostly correct.I have two acquaintances, with good credentials, who think society is/will collapse (mostly due to peak oil). They thought it would happen over the past 2-4 years. I knew they and others like them were wrong (but not why, usually the case with me. My subconscious is smarter than my conscious). Same with Hedges and Marx being wrong. However, the wealthy and powerful aren’t letting capitalism collapse. The wealthy need consumers, as some of you have pointed out. They need the system to keep going. They do seem to be moving it, though, mostly to Dubai, some to Singapore, other places. They are letting the USA decline. I’m not a nationalist and don’t approve of protectionism (though personally wish my jobs were not so scarce to get). Why should I have a decent living and not someone elsewhere. We, the majority of people, need to unite enough to use our power. I see so many people riled up and yet spread out like dandelion puffs. Sigh. thanks for the hopeful quotes. I need 'em. Gramsci is high on my reading list.

AH, I see the distinction now. Thanks ALB. You're so patient, good teacher. Important distinction. " not the federation of countries suggested by the word 'international" Yes, I think there should not be nations or countries other than as a geographical organizational thing (decided that before I was 17).   Global or world wide is better.I got the history info elsewhere . Thanks. The following is snarky, but I'm kinda irritated."Your question has nothing to do with socialism"Except I bothered to ask Socialists."The concept of internationalism was first indicated on the Communist Manifesto written by Marx and Engels on 1884 "I know Marx is impoortant to you, but he is not my god.

"In Latin America the Libertarian… are the followers of Friedman considered as… fascists."Wish that were true in the US. In the media they have some legitimacy unfortunately."In Latin America progressive is related to socialism and communism."..Ok, that's like in America."the so called progressive and liberals of the US are considered as reactionaries, fascists and colllaborators of capitalism"This is confusing. Then what do you call socialists who are in the US or American socialist types?

Mcolome you totally misunderstood my post. Same on the yahoo forum. Mostly my fault I am too brief  and unclear, but I don't really have a lot of time or inclination to post.btw Jon he wrote most of the columns before Russell Brand's interview and article. Thanks nonetheless.

There are some editing errors in the article. If you want help editing let me know. If this should be posted in a PM, apologies and also let me know. I would think teaching children critical thinking, independence and self-esteem would also help prevent sect and cult formation.
