Threat to world is ‘higher’ than in Cold War – UN secretary general
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has said the current threat to the world is greater than during the Cold War.
Speaking at the annual Munich Security Conference – which Russia is not attending tis year- Mr Guterres said: “I am often asked whether we are in a new Cold War.
“My answer is that the threat to global security now is more complex and probably higher than at that time.”
He added: “I urge all parties to be extremely careful with their rhetoric. Public statements should aim to reduce tensions, not inflame them.”The United Nations has been the first promoter and supporter of wars, and they have always propagated war hysteria. They have also invaded other countries

“Russian state media said on Friday that a parked jeep with nobody inside it had blown up near a government building in the rebel-held city of Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine. No one is thought to have been hurt.
A news outlet for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic urged residents to remain calm and not to move around the city if possible. Images of the wreck show military personnel inspecting what is left of the vehicle.
It comes just a day after the UK and US accused Russia of using false flag tactics to set a pretext for its potential invasion of Ukraine. Boris Johnson said western nations “knew” this was happening after an attack yesterday on a nursery in Donbas – another rebel-held area.
Earlier, Germany moved to agree with Mr Johnson, insisting so-called false flag operations would be the way Vladimir Putin justified a war against Ukraine. At the Munich Security Conference, German foreign minister Annalena Baerbock admitted she too feared this was the case, and that it was the “most likely scenario”.
(So much for Scholz’s upbeat visit to Moscow! Germany towing US/UK line).
If war does come and we do not know for certain it will or the scale of the war, the WSM will issue its customary declaration of peace, that no patch of ground, whether it is the Ukrainian nation or the breakaway republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, is worth the sacrifice of fellow workers’ lives.
I believe we have members who can translate our statement into both Russian and Ukrainian.
But the sad reality means that there are very few who take notice of our view.
Nationalism remains a dominant ideological belief for many and the Great Powers continue to contest with one another for global power.
