Listen Thankyou all again for these book ideas. I just know what my Da is like with technology. He hasnt even moved into CDs yet with his music system and still plays tapes and LPs so I know he would just leave the kindle in a drawer. I will look into the E Gaitens title and cheers Jondwhite but I think I'll just skip the Owen Jones one. He's that self important little leftist prick who writes for the Guardian. Or am I getting mixed up?

I had forgotten about the Francis Wheen title so I think I'll get it for him. My old man doesn't even have a mobile phone never mind a Kindleso I think that's out of it. I've already bought him Bruce Parry's "Tribe" (book of the series) and a book by Suzanne Romaine entitled "Vanishing Voices" about the gradual extinction of the worlds languages. Listen I didn't put that post up for praise or to be set up as an example for members to emulate. I'm not even a party member anymore. It might piss people off as I've written some amount of garbage on here. Also I'm in the bizarre situation where I don't actually know who most of you are never having met you. Similarly most of you will never have met me. We can't even see each other! Yes the net (if we can hold onto it before it is completely eclipsed by the owning class) is an amazing leveller but it also lends people the ability to become assholes behind a screen. Me included. This might go some way to explaining why there's all this endless bickering going on here. Would there have been as much bad feeling in the 70's or 80's when the Internet didn't exist? I don't know. Trolls, stalkers, haters, revenge porn and all the rest of it didn't exist years ago. It's as if the Internet has given workers a tool to vent and vomit with. To enable them at last to unleash some of the frustration that comes with being utterly powerless.
Mate I often talk pish on this forum esp when it comes to my love/hate relationship with the working class. I'm also fascinated to learn about the origins of the Lennon lyric. Perhaps it's just my arrogance on wondering how anyone could ever have arrived at such a lyric without first having read SPGB lit. I find that astonishing .

I just watched the video again and it is excellent. I regret saying the narration should be changed because I guess I've caused offence yet again. Also I was also totally wrong when I said no one would watch it as it's had well over 1000 views in a week. I was talking shite. The problem with forums like this one is that sooner or later things end up in a fisticuffs situation with resentment brewing up. You only have to scan the comments section of any online newspaper article or YouTube video and sooner or later things turn into a slanging match. It's easy to sit behind a screen and pontificate. I do it all the time. There wouldn't be anywhere near this level of animosity if everyone was siting in the pub together talking. Double edged sword the net.
Why mention Scottish Newsreaders ALB? Because I'm a Scot? How pathetic. Same old same old with the SPGB I see. The commentary might be easy for you and I to understand but surely this is a global message and the guy narrating is going to cause people to switch off abroad. Not that anyone will watch the fucking thing anyway.
Just watched this. V good. However could a foreign audience actually understand the text as narrated by a heavy regional accent? No problem for anyone here in the UK. But for an English student in Moldova or a housewife in Nigeria? In the comments section underneath the video on YouTube a lady asks for a full transcription saying "it would be easy to understand clearly and translate in several languages". Forgive me but you need a new narrator for this. With crystal clear diction.
