KeymasterFor a bit of black humour i found this raised a chuckle Barack Obama = George Zimmerman http://dissidentvoice.org/2013/09/is-barack-obama-pulling-a-george-zimmerman/ The irony, the tragedy…

KeymasterHrothgar wrote:" I have no particular problem with the presence of white Europeans in Britain."(my emphasis)Now why is that? And why should your personal preference on who you wish to associate with decide anything. Don't try to hide behind your pseudo-scientific crap – You are a racist, so just cut the bullshit about community and kinship. It is all down to the colour of the skin for you. Nor is that all your thinking is original self-taught rather than regurgitated racist ideology, you sieg-heiling, goose-stepping, swastika-waving white supremacist. My attempts to ridicule you obviously have not got through your thick creamy pink-coloured skin. I will accept you are right only so I can say this – I'm glad my small genetic difference doesn't make me related to the likes of yourself – unfortunately that is sadly not the case. "In fact, it's likely that everyone in the world is related over just the past few thousand years," Graham Coop, a geneticist at the University of CaliforniaNo, it's not because you and I are genetically different that I wish not to be associated with you; it is because I find your views repugnant and no amount of discussion will change it because you aren't seeking the truth but legitimacy and reinforcement and that is why you latch on to the smallest iota of scientific argument to justify your views and camouflage your actual inhumanity. We are all Jock Tamson's bairns – except you. "I used to think the world was broken down by tribes. By Black and White. By Indian and White. But I know this isn't true. The world is only broken into two tribes: the people who are assholes and the people who are not.” ― Sherman AlexieGuess which tribe I place you in.

KeymasterWhile we have distanced ourselves from the US/UK/French militarism and question their interpretation of the evidence, there is also no reason to accept the Syrian government version as a true account either. Whether it was the rebels (deliberately or accidentally) or Assad (or some army officer) who launched the chemical attack , it is no justification for upping the war and it served only as a pretext for already existing agendas. Our anti-war position re-Iraq would be no different if they had actually found WMDs.Some reports say that the battle in Damascus suburbs was not going at all well for the government troops and there was a possibility of being defeated there. But this report by the commentator Juan Cole describes how Iran too is now divided over the war with Iran's ex-president accusing Assad of complicity in the attackhttp://www.juancole.com/2013/09/president-gassing-divisions.html

KeymasterWe used to have a well-known character in Scotland called Robbie the Pict who was a nice guy. Campaigned tirelessly against the Skye Bridge tolls for years. He would at one time also organise folk festivals to commemorate the Pict victory at the Battle of Dun Nechtain (Dunnichen or Nechtansmere) against the Northumbrian Angles. The derivation of Wallace as in William Wallace is usually accepted as Welshman or sometimes foreigner. I once read that Walesa as in Lech Walesa , of the Polish Solidarity, was a corruption of Wallace. 17th century Gdańsk was home to an estimated 30,000 Scots. Czamer, a four-term mayor of Warsaw, was originally Chalmers. In the debate on the 1707 union those not in favour pointed to Poland as a warning: “If we admit them into our liberties we shall be overrun with them… witness the multiplicities of the Scots in Poland.” The word Szot for a pedlar was because of the Scots main livliehood. So all those who deride the Poles for working here, they should realise many are just "coming home"

KeymasterSorry i was wrong – its actually about 60% DNA shared with a banana http://www.genome.gov/DNADay/q.cfm?aid=785&year=2010Noi tend to prefer to associate with women and strangely enough they aren't like me at all.In fact their DNA lack the Y chromosone so i have more in common genetically with a male Maori than with a woman. I have previously discussed race and affinity with what are known as national-anarchists and i have a strange inkling you probably have knowledge of that particular ideology. They too place a special emphasis on the identity of culture and ethnicity and race over class. We aren't fooled by those who called themselves national-socialists.Or the Strasserites left-wing of themNor are we fooled by those on the right who call themselves libertarians.i dare say your nom de plume betrays you as some sort of Aryan racial myth-peddlar rather than a genuine student of the Beowolf legend.

KeymasterAccording to Stars and Stripes the Americans knew there would be a chemical attack 3 days before but chose to stay silent about it. http://www.stripes.com/us-had-intel-on-chemical-strike-before-it-was-launched-1.238764

KeymasterWe have to remember all civil wars usually involve outside actors. The Spanish Civil War involved the colonial Moorish troops , Italian regular army volunteers , and German pilots. Who now would be called the foreign fighters would be the members of the International Brigade. We have to be careful walking the line of not taking sides . The SFA probably did have an organic growth from disaffected deserters who decided to snipe and shoot back at police and army which escalated to a guerrilla war. But as always the exiles, as in Iraq, got the guns and money from their Saudi and Qatar sponsors so they assumed direction and control.I question the 1% figure you quote. Most sources i read places it at about 10% but even doubling that figure, the foreign fighters are still in a minority. However because they are the most dedicated, more ruthless and high-profile , they give the impression of numbering more. Perhaps the Kurdish militants should also be counted separately.Your figures also don't include the Syrian government foreign fighters ie Lebanonese Hezbollah and vague numbers of Iranian Guard "advisors"But this is all nit-picking and misses the point. As world socialists we don't care a fig for the nationality of those involved but we do care about what they are fighting for and fighting against and sadly neither side's victory brings socialism a millimetre closer.

KeymasterHezbollah mobilises. Hezbollah fighters have left their regular posts in several villages in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre and the Bekaa Valley over the past five days, AFP reported. Teenagers have replaced more experienced Hezbollah fighters at checkpoints in Beirut. Lebanon's al-Akhbar daily reports Hezbollah “has called on all its officers and members to man their positions." http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2013/09/02/321736/hezbollah-mobilizes-forces-over-syria/

KeymasterWelcome back HchIn regards to your question, Left Unity will only permit individual memberships therefore the SPGB as a party will be excluded from any formal debates within it. We will be addressing LU and its various platforms in leaflets and open letters, hopefully. If i remember correctly, you were associated with SPEW and TUSC. Perhaps you can give us a scenario of the future relations between LU and those two organisations will be in your opinion. If not rivals then surely once LU is up and running SPEW and TUSC must either merge and dissolve or expect LU to do so. RESPECT and SLP must also consider their positions. Can electoral pacts work in practice? As been pointed out on the other threads it is strange that those so desirous of unity have declined to join the Green Party, the most successful of the left parties, which incorporates many of the policies of those involved in LU. Again it will be interesting to hear your view on this.

KeymasterThis quite a good overview article on Syria and adds to a previous post by myself on Qatar's gas pipe-line through Syria motives for their intervention http://www.alternet.org/world/syria-intervention-plan-fueled-oil-interests-not-chemical-weapon-concern?paging=off

KeymasterI found the article link not very impressive, Gnome.I do not accept his claim that Assad has offered to step down repeatedly. I would appreciate some evidence of this. The fact that Obama hasn't assassinated Assad as proof he wants Assad in place is very tenuous. Nor am I impressed with the dollar v euro conspiracy. It puts the cart before the cart horse. The $ is strong because the US is strong so it is the World's favourite currency. The US isn't strong because of the strength of the $. His belief that Syrian air defence is an effective one isn't too accurate either when Israel has already demonstrated the ease it has in attacking Syrian targets. The articles assumption that the Jihadists are not aware they are doing America's dirty work is laughable. They are willing pawns as they were in Libya because they know they get the perks of money and guns. When they do turn on their pay-masters it won't be because of a sudden realisation they were killing Shi'ites rather than Americans. But the article is right that the West want a impotent divided emasculated Syria to manipulate and the best way is to keep it bogged down in a long drawn out seemingly endless civil war. Turn it into another Lebanon. This suits Israel, when Hezbullah turn their rockets on Syrian rebels. Supporting Syrian government is costing Iran a fair amount, weakening it even further economically.

KeymasterCarr, Australian foreign minister, indvertently lets the cat out the bag about Iraq while trying to justify Syrian attack."…we recognise the importance of America in this case not seeking strategic advantage, it's not doing that; not seeking an economic advantage like access to oil, it's not doing that…"http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2013/s3838126.htmBlair dismissed the war for oil as a conspiracy theory.

KeymasterThe UN have done a runner into the Lebanon y…the third time AFAIK, they have failed completion of their mission due to American interventions…surely people should recognise the pattern now…
