    hyperlink such as:

    <a href="/spgb/event/lothian-socialist-discussion-edinburgh-730pm">Lothian Socialist Discussion (Edinburgh – 7.30pm)</a>

appears in the edit box as

    •  “Lothian Socialist Discussion (Edinburgh – 7.30pm)” formatted in blue with underline

    appears in the post as

    •  “Lothian Socialist Discussion (Edinburgh – 7.30pm)” with no special formatting

Is there any reason for not formatting the text to make it obvious that it is a clickable link?

It is an aesthetic choice made at the time of setting up the editing software. Scrolling over links should see them underscored. We do not generally need to write out the hypertext source files in formatting when doing pages to make it easier for novices such as me, we just use text and then to add links just use the titlebar. we then select a function option of 'full html' which renders pages automatically. It could be changed with the upgrade so that all links are coloured.

I understand.  For computer, I heartily agree.  Just move the mouse over the link. For mobile (iPhone, iPad, …) there isn’t a mouse.I was wondering (not requesting) about a compromise that might work aesthetically on both.Thanks.

Good point. I will put this on the to do list for consideration with the upgrade which should be soon. I can't tinker with it just now.I had a look using a mobile phone, a fiddly way of looking at it and while it is not immediately obvious or great the links do show up underlined when you touch the screen, more so when enlarged.
