I'd caution against this for three rreasonsits not targeted so its unlikely to be effectiveits not strictly related to the rugby so it's not likely to be welcome, there are events more likely to be more linked to this sort of propagandaIt might very well be unwelcome since supporting one sports club or nation over another in competitive sport is what it's all about in spectator sportspeak to other members and see if there is something more appropriate, even the local high street might be more fruitful

Don't really get your point jondwhite, 1) It is targeted for people watching Rugby on T.V. in and around the nations that are playing. 2) You said it might be unwelcome, this is Milton Keynes and workers / people are not like that, plus you get this on most environments, more so on the street where you advise I go and the effort of getting people wanting to do that, seems pointless !Discussion here: World Socialist Movement Public Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/4940054730/Yours for Socialism !

International sporting events are perhaps the finest example of nationalism being expressed after war-patriotism. Wish you best of luck with your venture and that it produces some fruit. Look through the Standard archives, i'm sure you will find a few articles on sport that you can print out and give to anybody showing interest. Our blog recently drew attention to this report on health and safety of rugby players, something to mention if you get into any conversationshttp://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-34249189

I don't see any problem with distributing our leaflets outside rugby or soccer stadiums. Our TUSC opponent in Oxford did so during the general election earlier this year, as the following extract from their facebook page shows (click on 27 March):

    Quote:
27 MarchStall tomorrow outside Nelson pub, Cowley Centre 11.00am followed by leafleting at Kassam Stadium, please help if you can.

Most fans of international sports teams attending competitive matches are not consciously making a point about 'nationalism' or 'patriotism' which is why I think leafleting them may be an inadvisable activity making it look like we think they are under nationalist illusions.

You've obviously not met anybody from Scotland's Tartan Army , have you…Why has there been a constant debate for the past decade on the national anthems to be played and sung, and rugby was particularly at the centre of those.  I'm with ALB who i believe was on some rugby club committee or other for a while…

i will also add that sections of the football fans that were once prey to the rightwing are now displaying banners of a more radical expression such as we seen over the migrant issue and Imposs will cite the Green Brigade as a welcomed  example. https://michaelgreenwell.wordpress.com/2011/01/12/the-green-brigade/
