No. In the Iran-Iraq war of 1980-88 the West supported Iraq under Saddam Hussein.
And the why the Trotsky, etc “anti-imperialists” backed Iran under the Ayatollahs.Then why was the West against Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait? Would annexing Kuwait have shifted the balance of power in the region too much in Iraq’s favour?
Also, why was the West against Saddam’s government (sanctions, Iraq War) after the latter lost the Gulf War?

This is also a good article for the war hysteria that will come up on 9/11/26. Now, the USA is playing the victim card instead of the opposite; according to Trump, foreign countries have taken advantage of the USA, and the trade deficit has been produced by foreign countries.
The USA has given too much free money to foreign countries; USA aid is a double-edged sword, and most of the programs implemented by John F Fitgzerald were part of the world hegemony struggle between the USA and the Soviet Union, the same gangsters controlling different street gangs.
Foreign countries have stolen what belongs to the USA; this is a struggle between the good guys and the bad guys, or the Axis of evil, as George Bush said.
The Latin American petroleum reserve and mineral mines were stolen from the USA, and the communist Chinese want to impose communism and take over the Panama Canal; the Chinese capitalists have a better megaport in Peru, and a network of trains to transport commodities. The Maya trains from Mexico are going to transport many commodities around the whole country.
Mexican workers produced many automobiles and electric parts financed by big US corporations, and japanese investors and they signed a treaty of free trade signed by Trump and prior presidents; they only have changed the names of the agreement, and now Trump is saying that they do not need anything from Mexico, that they only produce Tamales and Tomatoes, and their trade is around 870 million dollars from both sides, but they want Mexico petroleum reserves and Malvinas petroleum.
