I get regular mailouts from the “Next System project” based in the US (which despite the title is committed only to tinkering around with this system – a sort of well-meaning wishy-washy Bernie Sanders type reformist outfit)
Anyway, the latest mailout refers to a “just-released briefing paper entitled “Democratic Ownership Funds: Creating Shared Wealth and Power.” Co-written by Peter Gowan and Mathew Lawrence, director of the new UK democratic economy think tank Common Wealth, this is a primer on policy proposals for funds that would gain an ownership share in large companies on behalf of workers, which have gained steam on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to recent pronouncements by Labour Party leaders in the UK and by US presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders. “
