Good productive few hours in Canterbury today with the literature stall.  Turned out to be an unplanned joint venture between K & SR branch and a member from that rival organisation (Socialist Studies) !!!Had several affable conversations with local workers (including a further encounter with another SPEW member) as well as those from Israel, Argentina, France and Egypt.Sold literature worth £8.50 and gave other stuff away.Decidedly worth repeating.

Canterbury (Kent) – 24/8/12Quite a successful weekday afternoon in Canterbury. Three current Socialist Standards and one pamphlet sold and a number of leaflets and back issues of the SS given away. Several useful contacts were also made.More photos uploaded here:-http://www.meetup.com/The-Socialist-Party-of-Great-Britain/photos/10401242/

Literature stall – 22/9/12Disappointingly slow response with folk seemingly preoccupied with other matters.  Pity since the weather was kind and turnout from members and supporters was good (six in total).  However. two current Socialist Standards were sold and a number of introductory leaflets handed out.  The six of us later retired to a local pub to be joined by two others (a member’s relative and a supporter’s friend).

Literature stall – 25/5/13Best response from the workers in Canterbury to date.  Quite a few people stopping to chat with a few buying Standards or pamphlets.  Many back numbers of the SS were given away as were a number of leaflets.  Very encouraging and something which will be repeated during the Summer months on a regular basis.  Four members and one supporter turned out.

As one Edinburgh branch comrade often reminds us, with patience and perserverance its possible to piss a hole through stone. The sale of Standards should not be the guage of success, but the numbers of passer-bys who see the stall and come to recognise and associate it with the words socialist party.

Regret to inform that the stall tomorrow (22nd June) has been cancelled due to anticipated adverse weather conditions. We'll be fixing another date when the branch next meets on July 7th.

Probably the best stall we’ve had so far in Canterbury.  Many interesting encounters including two members of SPEW with whom we had a long and interesting discussion and also with a Palestinian woman who was very much on our ‘wavelength’..Four branch members present.
