In 1944, the Stalin regime forcibly re-located the Crimean Tatars from Crimea to Kazakhstan. In 2015, the Ukrainian parliament recognised this as genocide.

I’m not saying what’s happening in the Gaza Strip now is genocide, but it makes you think.

I am beginning to think that it is something like that that is going on in Gaza. The Israeli Attack Force seems hell-bent on killing Hamas leaders and freeing hostages no matter what the cost to the local population in terms of death and destruction.

In any event those currently in charge of the Israeli state are guilty of something, if only of being deluded in imagining that they can effectively make Gaza and the West Bank part of a Greater Israel inhabited by oppressed, second class subjects — actually fourth class, after Jews, certain non-Arab Muslims, and Arabs living in Lesser Israel.

This will only work by brute force and at the cost of immense suffering but this is what a state will do when it considers its existence is threatened.

This has been the aim of Zionists since the creation of the Israeli state and who or what will thwart that declared objective?

The debate has not been for or against the indivisibility of Eretz Israel. No Zionist can forgo the smallest portion of Eretz Israel.

A partial Jewish State is not the end, but only the beginning. I am certain that we will not be prevented from settling in the other parts of the country, either by mutual agreements with our Arab neighbours or by some other means. . . (emphasis added)

Aaron Bushnell sent the video of him burning himself to death to an Anarchist group (that is not a link to the video, I won’t).

“My name is Aaron Bushnell. I am an active-duty member of the US Air Force and I will no longer be complicit in genocide. I’m about to engage in an extreme act of protest—but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it’s not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal.”

The socialist attitude is to ‘live for the cause’, but there is no denying the calm determined decision Bushnell made to die such a horrible death.

I hope no-one else makes this choice, but it is a symptom of a world run mad.

The bourgeois press is saying that he was an anarchist member of a religious sect. He was not an anarchist, he supported the creation of the Palestinian state, most real anarchists are not religious peoples either and they do not support the existence of the state. He was a religious person who wanted to emulate himself like monks used to do in Vietnam

‘German guiltwashing in times of genocide’:https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2024/2/27/german-guiltwashing-in-times-of-genocide , in which:

‘The message of the guiltwashers is clear: Germany alone is exceptional in its stance against anti-Semitism. Germany alone is fit to judge anti-Semitism. Germany, in opposing the exceptionalism of the Nazi era, is today exceptional once again but, of course, in a different and supposedly progressive way.

The sheer lack of self-awareness would be amusing if it were not so tragic and if its consequences were not so disastrous. Various Jewish authors and scholars have repeatedly pointed out the anti-Semitic nature of this guiltwashing approach.

“We have a form of anti-Semitism … that is not even addressed as anti-Semitism, and it is the collective silencing of Jewish voices that do not abide by the dominant discourse in Germany,” Emilia Roig, a Jewish French scholar and writer, said at a December event in Berlin.

According to Jewish writer and researcher Emily Dische-Becker, a third of those who have been “cancelled” in Germany for alleged anti-Semitism (i.e. expressing solidarity with the Palestinians) have been Jews, including descendents of Holocaust survivors.’

    https://apnews.com/article/indiana-defining-antisemitism-bill-d2b2b38427df713c355fbeb2f9afe2df

If the bill excludes the 11 examples that the IHRA gave as contemporary examples of antisemitism, then it would seem to be a victory for free speech, at least in Indiana (population 6.8 million).

Most of the examples are not controversial just reflecting what is ordinarily seen as antisemitism but a few were tendentious:

“Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.”

“Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.“

“Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.”

So, in theory, someone in Indiana can now say that the establishment of Israel was “a racist endeavour” and that the state of Israel is currently pursuing a policy of “genocide” without risking losing their job for doing so.

The full list of “illustrations” can be found at the end of this document:

While they are dropping candy bar and the so called humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, the US military are building a port in Gaza, by the meantime the working is trusting on the promises of their so called leaders. When are we going to learn our historical lessons ? The war in the Middle East is a confrontation between capitalists, taking side with any gang is taking side with gangsters. They have done the same thing in others countries, they build a port and then they build a military base

I think there used to be a port in Gaza or a bigger one was being built but that it was destroyed by Israel last time. Of course.

Gunboat diplomacy. Old tricks. In 1965 they sent 50,000 troops to the Dominican Republic to pick up some tourists and they stayed for several years until they established a dictator thru a massive election fraud, and now the US politicians are accusing each other of election fraud

We talk about Palestine, however, Palestine doesn’t really exist; the West Bank is a settler-colony, while the Gaza Strip is the Palestinian equivalent of a Native American Indian reservation.

A great SS article, titled: ‘Israel – Another Capitalist State’ by Steve Coleman: https://www.worldsocialism.org/spgb/socialist-standard/1980s/1984/no-955-march-1984/israel-another-capitalist-state/

And the leftwing conspiracionists think that there is not class division and class struggle in the Israel society, and that all of them are rich peoples who want to dominate the world, and that there is not a ruling class in Palestine and there are not class divisions either.

The formation of the Palestine state it would be the establishing of another capitalist state, and the Palestinians are not going to become free either, it is going to be a substitution of masters.

Hamas is still applying the old labor laws of the Ottoman Empire based on reactionary Islamic religious rules. Some left communist groups have written about that type of labor law which establish a very oppressive system on the working class

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Security_Council_Resolution_2728

    “The Security Council,

Guided by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations,

Recalling all of its relevant resolutions on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question,

Reiterating its demand that all parties comply with their obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law and international human rights law, and in this regard deploring all attacks against civilians and civilian objects, as well as all violence and hostilities against civilians, and all acts of terrorism, and recalling that the taking of hostages is prohibited under international law,

Expressing deep concern about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip,

Acknowledging the ongoing diplomatic efforts by Egypt, Qatar and the United States, aimed at reaching a cessation of hostilities, releasing the hostages and increasing the provision and distribution of humanitarian aid,

    1. Demands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan respected by all parties leading to a lasting sustainable ceasefire, and also demands the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, as well as ensuring humanitarian access to address their medical and other humanitarian needs, and further demands that the parties comply with their obligations under international law in relation to all persons they detain;

    2. Emphasizes the urgent need to expand the flow of humanitarian assistance to and reinforce the protection of civilians in the entire Gaza Strip and reiterates its demand for the lifting of all barriers to the provision of humanitarian assistance at scale, in line with international humanitarian law as well as resolutions 2712 (2023) and 2720 (2023);

    3. Decides to remain actively seized of the matter.”

This is a call on both parties to stop it, but section 2 really falls on Israel to allow aid into Gaza. Belatedly the organs of the world are calling for peace, but the interests on the ground will not allow it.
