Thanks again to everyone who has been helping and giving feedback.

The basic structure of the site is now almost complete, all that needs to be done is to move all the actual content over. A large task by anyones standards.

So if you’re computer literate in anyway please get in touch. Adding content to this site is really no more difficult than using a social networking site such as facebook.

I attended a Drupal course in London a couple of weeks ago, I now have a bit more knowledge and skills to control how content is displayed on the site.

As ever all feedback appreciated.

Progress

April 10, 2010

Thanks to everyone who has sent me comments.

I’ve got to do a little more work to the internal framework, soon users will be able upload content to the site.

There will be four levels of permissions:

  • ‘anonymous user’ able to view all content on the site, post comments (pending approval), and vote on certain polls.
  • ‘authenticated user’ standard user account. As above plus able to post on forum and comment without approval.
  • ‘contributing user’ As above plus able to add and edit own content and approve comments from anonymous users.
  • ‘moderator’ Able to add, edit and delete all content.

Issue with RSS feeds. You may have noticed that clicking on the links in the ‘Socialism or Your Money Back’ block takes you to the wrong article, this is due to interference from one of the contributor modules, I’ll have to go through them one by one to resolve the issue.

SPGB website migration

April 8, 2010

Welcome to the temporary home of the SPGB website reconstruction project. Soon to be moved to drupal.worldsocialism.org

I am upgrading the site using Drupal, an open-source content management system.

The site will include forums, online ordering with paypal, full search facilities, a feed from ‘socialism or your money back’ blog and probably some other stuff I haven’t thought of yet.

It’s early days yet but please leave some comments and come back soon. I’ll be doing stuff every day and hope to have the project complete in 3 – 4 months.

I’m also after offers of help, if you know how to use Word or Open Office that’s good enough, this system makes it really simple to add new content.
