If a cycle lane in Acacia Avenue is being proposed by one of the capitalist parties, it likely meansless money in the pot for other things,a way to seek general support from other parties to keep the capitalist party in chargeor part of a bargain for something else.Socialists might agree a cycle lane but wouldn't be agreeing a trade off for any of these things. This was the WB Upton Park issue where Henry Martin thought Socialists were some kind of monastic 'no compromise' ascetics forgetting the point is 'no political trading' too.

So opposition to standing at elections is opposition to the party's Declaration of Principles?

Let's not go on a heresy hunt here, searching out members who presently oppose using resources in elections because they may not think the time is appropriate for standing in elections.

EH??How can you interpret my comment in such a way? I suggest no such thing.

While I think anti-electoralism might contravene the D of P, choosing not to contest particular elections or constituencies for pragmatic reasons (members time / money) is not and I think this is all that Alan is saying. Although I don't think poor results in terms of votes for us is reason alone enough not to contest.

    Clause 6 states

    Quote:
… the working class must organize consciously and politically for the conquest of the powers of government, national and local…

    and Clause 8

    Quote:
… The Socialist Party of Great Britain, therefore, enters the field of political action …

Watched this and he was a left-wing comedian, not obviously Labour and not obviously Trot.

The original slogan of the Bolshevik was: Peace, Land, and Freedom. Are they socialist slogans? It sounds more like the French Jacobins

Wasn't the slogan 'Peace, Land and Bread' which is even more unrelated to socialism?

Here they argue 'LGBT+ rights are inseperable from the fight for socialism'https://socialistworker.co.uk/art/44093/Sexual+liberation+in+the++Russian+RevolutionNot sure this is quite accurate. It seems 'LGBT+ rights' can be obtained independently of the 'fight for socialism' since the Soviet Union wasn't socialist or 'fighting for socialism',  but that discrimination against LGBT (direct or indirect) does hinder the cause of socialism reaching all working-class people.

Strange indeed. Presumably it doesn't just mean that he was no longer involved in activity?

    From wikipedia on film festivals

    Quote:
most [film] festivals operate on a nonprofit membership-based model, with a combination of ticket sales, membership fees, and corporate sponsorship constituting the majority of revenue. Unlike other arts nonprofits (performing arts, museums, etc.), film festivals typically receive few donations from the general public and are occasionally organized as nonprofit business associations instead of public charities
