How many music threads are there on here now?
Don’t tempt me, or I’ll start a dedicated Christmas music thread. It’s that time of year.
I do like that Nick Lowe song, though.

Could you tell those of us who can’t be bothered to go through the rigmarole of accessing age restricted stuff what the classic is? Is there not another version of whatever it is available elsewhere?
I’d post the lyrics but the mod would zap them down.
I’m guessing (now) that every version of this song on YouTube will be age restricted. In the famous words of Johnny Rotten on the Bill Grundy Show, ‘Rude words . . . rude words.’

I didn’t read it as an attempt to rewrite history. I just put it down to a genuine mistake, and because of the nature of the piece – a reprint of correspondence – it couldn’t be rewritten after the fact.
Maybe the editorial committee could have put a note after the piece pointing out the mistake.
That’s such sad news. I only met Jimmy a couple of times about 20 years ago, but he immediately struck me as a good comrade with a good, sardonic sense of humour.
Another SPGBer, B.G., who knew Jimmy well wrote the following comment on Facebook:

I saw that the SSP also had a candidate in the Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election. Arguably more high-profile than the TUSC candidate. He didn’t do much better.
“At least that’s not fewer votes than nominations, these days.”

Sadly, Howard’s talk is a bit echoey but it is still listenable.
I guess it’s a variation on the old joke directed at the SPGB :
