KeymasterConvenient, isn’t it, that Roman Abramovich PR claim he is a victim of war, weeks after an alleged attempt to poison him.
Why the delay and why now?
The source? Bellingcat.

KeymasterRod, does the armament lobby determine the foreign policy of the USA?
It is also a theory that exempts Russia from any complicity or guilt.
NATO has been expanding eastwards since the break-up of the USSR, what was so threatening with the remote possibility that Ukraine would join? After 2014 and the creation of LPR and DPR why did it take Russia so long to react.
Actually, I am now wondering why there exist two breakaway republics and no move to bring those into one new state?
2014 coup was more about the politics of the EU than NATO, was the US using the EU as a convenient cover?
The media may prefer simple explanations such as Putin, the Mad Man, socialists have to understand the deeper reasons for world events.

KeymasterThis article offers some explanation of regime-change but I am still confused that it is simple as depicted.
It reads too much as a conspiracy theory for me

KeymasterI think your analysis is the one we should emphasise.
That behind the scenes, NATO sought to escalate and not negotiate.
A look back in this thread and we do witness evidence that Zelenskyy was prepared to concede NATO membership as very improbable but NATO demanded that it should remain within the realm of possibility.
However, one concern was why NATO was pressing this belligerent position?

KeymasterUkraine would be prepared to discuss adopting neutral status, its President Volodymyr Zelensky has said.
Now, why didn’t he say that a month ago and avoid the war?
Of course, he won’t come in for any criticism, having had the media declare him a paragon of virtue.
But is his concession too late?

Keymasterhttps://libcom.org/article/some-considerations-russian-invasion-ukraine
Article by Battaglia Comunista
“…War on war. Class war against the war of exploitation and death, for a society that does not have as its pivot the unequal relationship between capital and labour but a productive organisation based on the satisfaction of social needs and not mere profit, which is the basis of all the contradictions of capitalism, including wars. This latest Russian-Ukrainian episode is just one more tragic example of this.”

KeymasterA diversion?
Russia accused Azerbaijan of violating a ceasefire agreement by entering the Russian peacekeeping mission’s zone in the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Russia also accused Azerbaijani troops of using Turkish-made drones to strike Karabakh troops and expressed “extreme concern” over the spiralling tensions in the region.

KeymasterOnce again, the source of the article must come with its own caveats of bias but it does highlight the very effective use of news media manipulation in this war and in particular the BBC acceptance of Ukrainian claims
Whatever the truth of the matter, yet again we have difficulty in determining what is propaganda.
The same author, the same website on the alleged Mosque bombing but also highlighting the role of the Azov Battalion in supposedly destroying the theatre as a false flag
Was bombing of Mariupol theater staged by Ukrainian Azov extremists to trigger NATO intervention?

KeymasterDid anybody attend the Stand with Ukraine rally in London?
Is there much point in leafletting such Ukrainian patriotic events?

KeymasterRussian-backed separatists now controlled 93 percent of Ukraine’s Luhansk region and 54 percent of the Donetsk region – the two areas that jointly make up the Donbas.
“The main objectives of the first stage of the operation have generally been accomplished,” Sergei Rudskoi, head of the Russian General Staff’s Main Operational Directorate, said. “The combat potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been considerably reduced, which … makes it possible to focus our core efforts on achieving the main goal, the liberation of Donbas.”

The dismemberment of Ukraine and a new country of Donbas?

KeymasterDo what we say, not what we do.
After Russia recognised two separatist regions in eastern Ukraine as independent, top US officials have warned multiple times the “principle that one country cannot change the borders of another by force” is under threat. Blinken himself also has repeatedly asserted US support for Ukraine’s “territorial integrity“.
Three years after Trump recognised Israeli claims to Syria’s occupied Golan Heights, Biden has not reversed the decision. The declaration that the Golan belongs to Israel is a clear violation of international law.
