For the umpteenth time it’s Alan Johnstone

As the alleged moderator of this forum you should at least aim to get some things right!

    Or are you dyslexic?

Perhaps it’s done on purpose to get up your nose. Seems to work.

It’s a bit sad that this particular thread is being derailed by a cruel comment.

Although I only knew Alan on line or through emails, etc. it was clear that Alan was a very kind and personable bloke.

Anyway, Paula, Alan posted this version of the song a few years ago and he said he found it demonstrated the emotional impact of mass singing, I agree.

Yes I agree Bijou I love that rendition, it’s very moving, thank you for the post and the memory of Alan. And I’m sorry for upsetting you Lizzie, I need to remember the correct spelling. The important thing is, there is a great deal of worry, that is all.

Well said Paula. Good for you. A worthy successor to Alan.

Well said Paula. Good for you. A worthy successor to Alan.

That remains to be seen. At least he knew the difference between reforms and reformism.

“Well said Paula. Good for you. A worthy successor to Alan”

Whether Zhou Enlai was referring to 1968 or 1789 his comment, “It’s too soon to tell” is apposite surely?

The Socialist Party shauld keep its internal discussions and members commentaries in a private forum, the personal informations and personal opinions of members can fall in the hands of non members, and peoples who are anti communists, there is a pandemic of anti communism coming back in the capitalist society, it is going to get worst than the time of McCarthy.

The Marxists Leninist organizations keep the internal discussion privately and all personal problema are handled by a committee, and the members of that committee are not allowed to propagate the information, News and Letter committee has open meeting handled by the locals but the personal informations are handled by an internal committee

One day the socialist party is going to receive a lawsuit from members or ex members, and it would be forced to pay restitution and punitive damages, and might run out of funds, when the shit hits the fan it spread all over

I read a commentary of a member saying that she/he was receiving threat from right wingers, and they obtained the personal information from the socialist party internal forum, this is a very dangerous and peoples can be killed by those fanatics.

Whatever happened to Paula in the past, it is not our business, it is her own personal problem, and she made a sincerely commentary, we have committed mistakes and we can rectify them later on, and in order to be a moderator you do not have to be a perfect person, and only two persons were willing to take this job

Probably, Paula does not have the same experiences as Matt and Alan, but she is going to learn, it take time to become a moderator, at least she tried to remember Alan, and he made great contributions to this political organizations, he is a dedicated person, he belongs to the old party culture of peoples dedicated to the working class movement without expecting any rewards, he is not a part timer, he is a full timer.

I have worked along with moderators who were anarchists, Leninists, stalinists, hoxhaists, liberals, and reformists, and they did an excellent job as moderators

Some members of this party had a fresh start when they were young, but others came from the Marxist Leninist movement, and they had to relearn again because reformism is different to socialism, but despite that it is also a good experience too, knowing Marxism and Leninism it is easier to understand the party case and its principles

I have hardly ever looked at spopen (or that other forum not open to posting by non-SPGB or WSM members) but just now I did read through the spopen thread on reforms and reformism caused by that Paula-comment that Lizzie linked to, and I have two observations:

    1) Yes, a clarification on reforms/reformism is necessary.

    2) More rashly:

Spopen — in this instance anyway — seems to be considerably better than *this* forum usually is (or has come to be). A big reason would seem to be that there are members that will not deign to post (or even read, I’d guess) in *this* one, which is, for them, it seems, strictly for the ‘plebs’.
