I had no intention of returning to this discussion, but I felt I really had no option but to express my concern and shock that a member of the party would be placing articles on the SPGB forum from such right wing hate promoting media sources as those placed above. As forum members may be aware there is a massive campaign of anti Muslim and Hindu Nationalism going on in India at the moment, orchestrated by Modi and the Hindu Nationalist BJB. This had had dire consequences for many Muslims with lynching and other attacks on Muslim families. Part of the Goebbels style approach is to create false stories about Muslims and them attacking inocent families to provoke anti Muslim feeling and attacks on other religios groups within India. The following story in the Guardian gives a little flavour of this:
And more from Couner Currents.
The source of one of the links “Opindia” has written articles claiming that Hindu children are being sacrificed in Muslim ceremonies (similar Blood Libel and WIlliam of Norwich, etc. have long formed the basis of anti semetic propaganda). Stop Funding Hate a British social media campaign, urged organisations to withdraw their advertising from OpIndia in May 2020 after the website published an article asserting that businesses should be able to declare that they do not hire Muslims. The head of the campaign, Richard Wilson, said that “OpIndia is becoming internationally notorious for its hateful and discriminatory coverage” and that the campaign has “rarely seen such overt advocacy of discrimination on religious grounds“.
Another of the sources quoted The Times of India, is noted for its practice of accepting paid news stories from politicians and also was caught on camera as part of an undercover sting operation agreeing to promote Hindutva content through the group’s many media properties for a proposed spend of ₹500 crore, some of which the client said could only be paid with black money.
For those who are not aware of it Hidutva has been described by the The Indian “Marxist” economist and political commentatoPrabhat Patnaik as “almost fascist in the classical sense“. He states that Hindutva movement is based on “class support, methods and programme“. According to Patnaik, Hindutva has the following fascist ingredients: “an attempt to create a unified homogeneous majority under the concept of “the Hindus”; a sense of grievance against past injustice; a sense of cultural superiority; an interpretation of history according to this grievance and superiority; a rejection of rational arguments against this interpretation; and an appeal to the majority based on Race and Masculinity.”
Mutual Aid I know you have your views on animal “rights” but are these really the people you want to ally yourself with???? If so you should think shame!
I would hate to think what our comrades in India would think of such postings.

And anyone who seeks to trivialise and diminish concern for fellow animals (“lickel fuwwy bunnies” and “Peter Rabbit brigade”) and animal suffering (In Bangladesh cows are sometimes skinned alive. Just try to imagine how that would feel!) is no better than the ignorant louts who taunt antivivisectionists by pulling faces and making chimp noises.
I notice you have nothing to say when cow protectors and farmers are killed by cow smugglers; only when it’s the other way. .
I have now left the party because I have no wish to rub shoulders with mockers, trivialisers and diminishers.July 4, 2020 at 4:47 pm #204845AnonymousInactive
“Every year, an estimated 2 million cows from India are bound, thrown onto trucks and transported thousands of miles to Bangladesh in order to circumvent Indian slaughter bans. Video footage reveals that many cows were emaciated, exhausted and so malnourished that they couldn’t stand up by the time they arrived. They suffered from broken tails and open, festering wounds. The eyewitness did not see any veterinary care given to the animals.”July 4, 2020 at 4:49 pm #204846AnonymousInactive
“Cows and goats are often illegally slaughtered for their skins on the streets of Bangladesh at night, and the animals are forced to watch others’ throats being cut with a knife. In official abattoirs, workers bind their legs and slit their throats – all while they’re still conscious. As seen in the video footage, cows are sometimes still alive and kicking as their skin is ripped off their bodies.”July 4, 2020 at 4:51 pm #204847AnonymousInactive
Dangers to Workers
Workers, including children, were documented performing hazardous tasks such as soaking hides in toxic chemicals and using knives to cut the skins, which are then used to make handbags, shoes and other leather products that are sold around the world. Children even operate machinery. The unprotected workers stand barefoot in cancer-causing chemicals and use acids that can cause chronic skin diseases. An estimated 90 per cent of these tannery workers die before the age of 50.July 4, 2020 at 5:01 pm #204848AnonymousInactiveJuly 4, 2020 at 5:03 pm #204849AnonymousInactiveJuly 4, 2020 at 10:26 pm #204856Dave CheshamParticipant

Can’t say I blame you, MA. And you won’t be the last…July 5, 2020 at 12:22 am #204859alanjjohnstoneParticipant
And so you choose to leave me to battle alone, MA? 😥
I suggest you re-consider…as you said previously, socialism can be the only permanent fix and the Party – at the moment – is the only vehicle to bring socialism closer.
As for your distractors, always be aware that only a small minority of members frequent this forum. And their intentions are not always malicious.
Popular health drinks have their downside too.
I’ve seen first-hand the monkeys at work in South India. Because of the way they are treated, they respond by being vicious little critters.
I’ve seen people doing it with rope around their ankles to grip the tree trunk
