As the capitalists step up their exploitation and destruction of the Arctic, not only polar bears face extinction. The animal with the longest life-span, if left alone, the Greenland Shark, is also under threat. One born in 1624 was found in 2016.

The Greenland shark is a deep-sea dweller, primarily found in the Arctic and North Atlantic Oceans. These sharks are among the largest in the world, reaching lengths of up to seven meters. Due to their slow growth rate and late sexual maturity (around 150 years), they are particularly vulnerable to overfishing and other threats.
