I have my own conspiracy theory, which is less far-fetched than most, I believe.
The exhorbitant rising prices of real, good quality books, which exclude the masses as purchasers, would seem to have the end of restricting us to p.o.d.s, the internet, and e-books, while the bourgeoisie will continue to have access to real, well-made and beautiful, sturdy, books.
