Anyone who agrees with the object and principles of the Socialist Party can apply for membership. The reason we ask new applicants to complete a questionnaire is in order to satisfy themselves and the Socialist Party that they are in agreement with our ideas. Only in this way does membership serve a useful purpose both for applicants and for the Party.
Please answer in your own words. Answers can be brief, but where a “yes” or “no” answer is appropriate, reasons should be given.
Note in 2003 the following conference resolution was passed: The Socialist Party takes a non-theistic, materialist approach to things, in particular to society and social change. Religious people believe in the existence of at least one supernatural entity that intervenes in nature and human affairs. Socialists hold that we live only once. Religious people believe in some afterlife. Clearly the two are incompatible.
