Making non-socialist campaigns into socialist ones often thwarts the campaign and undermines it anyway. Not even through malevolence, just that a non-socialist campaign for non-socialist ends such as reforms are more effective at getting those reforms or at least getting more people involved to support it than are actual socialists.
Because apart from trade union activity to increase wages and better conditions which the party supports even in a sectional or national way, other political advantages dispensed by the ruling-class secured for one section of the working-class come at the expense of another section of the working-class. The ruling-class do not want to pay. The Socialist Party is not in the business of dividing workers along lines other than socialist or non-socialist.
That was not the the feedback from the Zeitgeist Movement who if anything thought our ideas were rather dated.
Before anything can be changed there are a number of mental obstacles in order of descending significance1. The working-class are not interested, all efforts and potential efforts or suggestions are futile, forget about growth.2. The party needs to keep doing what it is doing, keep calm and carry on, wait and see.3. Everything the party does is a matter of principle and not strategy so cannot be altered. The case not the face? Iron principle! Ballot spoiling? Principle!
