ParticipantSteve from San Francisco seems to be suggesting (digital) labour time vouchers now, albeit only redeemable against the presidential candidate. First it was postcards, then utopian communities, now labour time vouchers. What century are you living in because it seems like you've time travelled from the nineteenth century socialist movement, a hybrid Marxist-owenism. Lbird, take note – this is why we need Engels.

Nothing wrong with posting old articles but if we're going to discuss them on a forum, let's have something to discuss, like saying they're the best articles, worst articles, oldest articles, newest articles, funniest articles, longest articles, shortest articles, articles on a theme, by one author etc. Also mcolome1 recommends Franz Mehring herehttp://www.worldsocialism.org/spgb/forum/general-discussion/new-trojan-horse-elf-lacan-left#comment-36394Wasn't Mehring a Leninist?

ParticipantThere was about five "socialist" experimental societies started in the decade of the 1820s.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owenism#United_States_of_AmericaIt would seem pointless to keep repeating those failures.

ParticipantIf you know something about Kevin Anderson that the rest of us don't, perhaps you could share it with us?

Or is Stedman-Jones a particular favourite of yours?I'm not sure where you want this thread to go – I was keen to support and deepen the SPGB's insights from 1906.They seem to have withered and shallowed since, given the members' arguments on this site.I'm not sure either, but I thought Stedman-Jones was agreeing with you.

ParticipantMaybe I am misunderstanding, but simply because someone tried to build a party calling itself 'socialist' doesn't make that party reformist, how do you think the WSPUS or SPC came into being? The WSPUS (nor the SPGB) weren't even the first parties calling themselves 'socialist' in their respective territories and both were founded by members of other 'socialist' parties.

ParticipantHow do you put genuine socialist principles in drive gear and stop them vanishing in the USA?

The people of Richmond can likely stretch to something more substantial than a pamphlet. Maybe calendars or posters too.

ParticipantSome people call Bernie a sheepdog of the left, which begs the question was Trump a sheepdog of the right? What stopped Bernie from becoming President?
